May be language confusion - my fault.

SB bails = SB folds.

Sorry about that.

In general, I wouldn't be comfortable 3-betting, because, well, I suck playing larger pots OOP. When I get better, I hope to learn to do that.

For me, Foxfox1 called the play correctly: lead the flop, hope he raises, which allows me to get stacks in either there or on the turn. If he goes call, call, then I b/f the river (I'd have to check stack size at that point to be sure about the "f" part of b/f).

Thanks all for the ideas - it's invaluable.

Regards, Lee

AAArrghhh...bails out!
i hope i`ll going to remember this...

regarding 3betting...
i remember some of your posts on this subject....
tenor:why should i bloat the pot oop with a mediocre hand?
without having a pf edge?etc..

imo,
-you are focusing too much on your pf-equity (aka your hand vs perceived range)....

-you undersetimate value of cbetting

let`s say you 3bet 10-15% bb vs bu steal,you cbet 80%+ (2/3 pot)...
your cbet will be successful 40%+....
successrate for turn cbet will be similar...

that`s why defending by raising is so much better than defending by calling

I think you played it fine. With less than pot left on the river I think I just close my eyes, shove, hope he doesn't snapcall and then hope he calls once he takes >5 seconds.

yeah but still the reverse implied odds... this hand is so miserable on x% of flops?

Re: $1/$2/$5 - I flop under-full OOP

i might like the argument to 3bet this hand in position, but from the blinds, it seems a bit suicidal to bloat the pot with such a marginal hand, where we will mostly have to give up if our c-bet is called.

Re: $1/$2/$5 - I flop under-full OOP

pre/flop/turn are well played but i am always jamming this river. if you truly intend to c/c river then why not just shove? - we're talking about $215 into a $570 pot here.

this is a pretty benign board until the river. absent of specific reads, it is fairly obvious V has a naked 10. river Q sucks as it smacks his range but i am never ever folding 40bbs in this spot. if stacks were deeper this is a b/f situation but i am getting it in here 100%.
