Question though, with the DoJ going after the processors, this even wont stop that correct? though they do lose alot of "base" they were using, because now just using a 50 yr old wire act looks just stupid correct?

IIRC In most cases where some official documents have been made public by the court the DOJ hasn't used UIGEA to go after processors, but other laws.

One thing that occurred to me that hasn't been mentioned (or theorized since we have no way of knowing) is that the delay could be read as a sign the the Obama administration might be ready to take a softer approach regarding i-gaming. Thus far it has been unclear what their stance was. Initially the seizure cases were clearly something started under the prior regime and allowed to continue because it was so far along. As they continued it became less clear. This seems like a good and potentially meaningful sign.

Thanks Engineer and PPA!

I've written the letters to my congressman and senators. Let us know when the new letters are ready so we can send them another round.

Hopefully this is a sign that the Obama Administration is going to be taking a softer approach to online gaming but it is to early to tell at this point IMO. While it's gr8 news we did get a delay of UIGEA it's unclear to me for the reason why they decided to delay UIGEA. Did they do it because they support online gambling? Did they delay UIGEA because banks and CC companies could not understand the law and couldn't determine what (under UIGEA) is legal and illegal online gambling and sought to delay UIGEA until the regs could be clarified.

This is gr8 news and gives our side some time get legislation passed but we need to watch closely that this delay isn't used to change/clarify UIGEA by protecting some forms of gambling (horse racing) while throwing others under the bus (online poker). The next 6 months are critical, we should have some idea after the hearings next week which way the Congress might be leaning.

I agree Novahunterpa. I'm hopeful that this is a sign that the Obama administration isn't against us since all indications were that was a possibility prior to the election. However, given the lack of an explicit statement all we had to go on were minor signs in our favor (Obama being a poker player, the opponents position being worse, etc). This might be indicative of lack of opposition or minor support, but an unwillingness to use an political capital to help us. It could also be for other reasons as you've said.

Once a definition of UIG is finalized, then it can be challenged in administrative and then legal proceedings. IMO, this is the best way to obtain legal online poker in the US.
