Hopefully this is a sign that the Obama Administration is going to be taking a softer approach to online gaming but it is to early to tell at this point IMO. While it's gr8 news we did get a delay of UIGEA it's unclear to me for the reason why they decided to delay UIGEA. Did they do it because they support online gambling? Did they delay UIGEA because banks and CC companies could not understand the law and couldn't determine what (under UIGEA) is legal and illegal online gambling and sought to delay UIGEA until the regs could be clarified.
This is gr8 news and gives our side some time get legislation passed but we need to watch closely that this delay isn't used to change/clarify UIGEA by protecting some forms of gambling (horse racing) while throwing others under the bus (online poker). The next 6 months are critical, we should have some idea after the hearings next week which way the Congress might be leaning.
