UIGEA Regs May be Delayed for Six Months: Awaiting Final Confirmation

I'm hearing we'll get a six month extension on UIGEA, but I don't yet have final confirmation. You all know I wouldn't post it unless I were reasonably sure of my information. I'll post info as it becomes available.

Needless to say, this will wake up our opposition. We need to stay ahead of this. I urge everyone to do the following: call both of your senators and your representative and tell them that UIGEA needs to be scrapped. Info is at http://capwiz.com/pokerplayersalliance/home. Also, I'll write new letters for the PPA's letter to Congress site, so please send in the old one this week and the new one next week. Thanks!

Good news, TE.

But why six instead of 12?

I think they want to see progress on legislation. I believe the 12/3 hearing is to discuss the shortcomings of the UIGEA regs and on what the ultimate solution will be.

Is there any chance this will just lead to harsher regs?

There's always a chance of anything happening, but I think we're too strong now to be the big target.

This is amazing news if it turns out to be true! I honestly thought we had virtually no chance of this happening.

Thank you PPA.

I like that you said you're hearing we will get one instead of we May get one. Hopefully this word choice reflects reality, because if the PPA can claim victory even in a 6 month extension it would be huge both for the cause and for PPA fundraising/membership. I know I'd be inspired to make a nice donation.
