PPA just held a briefing on online security with some congressmen in the Rayburn House Office Bldg. Topics included age and location verification, RNG verification, and ways to address issues with individuals with excessive gaming habits.
The panelists were:
- Paul Mathews, independent consultant, formerly of IGT.
- Stuart Dross, VP of the online security company Cigital (they certified PS's RNG)
- Dr. Parry Aftab, an online safety expert. Executive Director of Wired Safety.
- John Pappas, PPA Exec. Dir.
IMO it was a great discussion, especially as many congressmen still seem to think poker sites are fly-by-night operations. More importantly, we recorded it, so it can be continually used to address the issue of the capability of sites to verify players' ages.
