In preparation for the markup which could come as soon as February the PPA recommends that poker players understand the finer points for H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act, which can be read at http://theppa.org/files/2009/07/hr2267.pdf

ppadrew, send that pdf to the lawmakers imo. it really makes it very easy to understand from an outsiders perspective

Just saw this and will just say that its patently absurd that a PPA document about "the finer points of HR 2267" doesn't mention the state opt out issue.

Gotta find out where the broad membership stands on the opt outs sooner or later.

No, not yet. The House committee is expected to have a markup on it in February. Hopefully they will also vote it out of committee to the floor for debate.

February the House is in session nine days with three of those days (2,9 and 23) not having votes until 6:30 pm EST.

March the House is in session 17 days with four of those days (2,9,15 and 22) not having votes until 6:30 pm EST.

We are currently working closely with Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) and are expecting him to announce the markup "hearing" date despite the limited markup time avaliablity in the very near future.
