Varly's has looked brilliant, and has clearly been better, but has had issues in the 3rd periods of a couple games. There's a good chance he starts the season off as the #1, but Bruce has been tight-lipped about the situation, aside from the "Theo's our number one" from a little bit back. Due to the scheduling (because of the olympics) there will be a lot of back-to-back game days, so having a solid Theodore is going to be big.

Also, I'd say Laich, Knuble, and a healthy Clark are going to solve last year's issue of not crashing the net enough pretty nicely. I really liked what I saw from the Knuble-Ovechkin line in the pre-season. I just know they were talking about moving Knuble and Semin around different lines based on matchups this year, so I guess that's a possibility. No complaints from tonight though, obviously.
