Hmmmm I'd rather keep Banks for 1 more year and let his expiring be nice trade bait

Carroll isn't playing a minute here. I mean sure he shoots well from the outside but he's not getting PT over the glut of SGs, not to mention we already have good wing shooters in Turk, Belinelli, and Douby.

I just read that this year's opening lineup has 12 new faces over last year's opening lineup...nice work BC.

This is how I see it:

Bellenelli - loved the trade to get him here, but he still a project with alot of potential.

DeMar - project, obviously with more promise then Marco.

Hedo - only wing player we KNOW what he is going to produce.

So, with that said, Carroll is a great insurance policy BC just got to cover his azz in case Marco busts and DeMarr requires more time to develop. If we dont need Matt in a year or two, you forget we have BC who can ship him out for a bucket of balls at a snap of a finger.

Like I said, no downside with this aquisition at all.

Agreed. No more long term bums on this team.

Wright can play SF minutes too.

on RapsTV right now...

Raps vs Suns on NBC

Feb 27th, 2000

First ever nationally televised game for the Raps

I forgot just how sick VC really was...he is just lighting it up in every way possible. rediculously athletic.

I forgot how much I loved to watch Charles Oakley bring up the ball and try to squeeze no look passes where they just dont belong. lol Todays Raps team is really missing the Oakley factor...he was the perfect glue/character guy the raps have ever had.

3rd quarter - on the court right now:

Doug Christie
VC
TMac
Oakley
Davis

Kidd
Penny
Marion
Guggliotta
Cliff Robinson

such a sick game

Airball 3 point shot by Oakley with 22 seconds left on the shot clock.

lol Oakley

one of my favourite oak moments was when he got kicked out during the pregame warmup for punching tyrone hill...apparently hill owed him some money

u cant hate the guy except for when he did those behind the back passes once every game

Im not hating on Oak at all...hes one of my fav Raptors of all time.

also, just want to add that we also have Muggsy Bogues.

I feel like the Suns are cheating by posting Kidd or Penny up against Muggsy every possession. Just not fair.

update: Carter has 47 points 9 rebounds so far
4th quarter 94-86 with about 5 or 6 minutes left.

I wonder what would have happened if we didn't trade that 5 pick for A Davis and Camby for Oakley. Two super important guys in our playoff runs (all 2 of em back then) but it seems like surrounding your young star with more young players is all the rage now.
Toronto Raptors: #WeTheNorth Quote

final update:

Raptors Win! Carter finishes with 51 points!

re chill: yea, i think its pretty clear that we dont make a deep run with Jonathon "Bust" Bender and Marcus "Busted knee" Camby...and Im pretty sure TMac leaves regardless of any of that (he wanted his own team and didnt want to be in Vinces shadow). I think Oakley played a big part in the development of VC (and the Raps for that matter).

The Score is doing a little piece on the USA Basketball Team, which Raps coach and former Canadian National Coach Jay Triano is an assistant coach or special coach for.

Kevin Durant on Jay Triano: "Ive known him ever since I met him"

i love that quote. He said it with a staight face too. So great.

reminds me of some classic DMX lines:

"when it rains, I get wet...rrrrrrr RUFFF RUFFF"

Battling shot for shot with AI was just sick.

we shouldve won that series...if only Vince pump faked that final three point shot against a flying Tyrone Hill...or even if he leaned in a bit to draw a foul....I remember thinking that him fading away that much was just the worst possible shot for him to take there. ughh - if he makes that shot, we make the finals. (can you imagine the Raptors in the Finals???)

correction: After actually watching the full clip you posted Vincepcion, AI and VC were not going shot for shot...they were going game for game. (AI hits ~47 points...VC hits 50 the next game....AI comes back with ~53...then VC hit...I cant remember - but you get the picture....awesome series)

also, I totally forgot we had Chris Childs. I saw him at the end of that clip giving VC a high-five hug combo thingy.

Oakley was probably the most important Raptor TO ever had. Look at their success with him vs. without him. Serious win upgrade in his 1st year and then downgrade the year after he left. He kept VC inline and I would love him as some kind of assistant coach

yea, I agree. Although Garbajosa brought that Oakley quality to the Raps, it was really only for one season. Our team really needs to walk with a certain swagger, a certain confidence that is brimming on arrogance. Last season, we were too soft...I think thats what Reggie Evans was brought in this offseason for, right?

Ive been rallying for Danny Fortson for the longest time...I always thought he would make the perfect Oakley-esque contribution to our team.

First Pre-Season game of the year
Raps vs 76ers

Here are some premature observations I made.

yes, I know its just a preseason game. The first preseason game!

Hedo and Bosh are sitting this one out.

Derozen looks alright.

Amir Johnson looks like he could be solid, but he needs to finish these gimmes hes getting if he wants to make some impact and get some minutes this year. I could see why the Pistons gave up on him, he seems like one of those Darius Miles type of guys (all the potential and tools in the world, but just cant put it all together). I could be wrong. I hope Im wrong.

Sonny Weems looks very very solid. I was very impressed with him, and im not even talking about his little highlight plays...I just love his decision making and how strong he takes it to the bucket and how great he works away from the ball. He seems like he has the goods to be a high impact, high I.Q. player in the near future.

Andrea Bargnani is ready to make that next step this year imo. If it wasnt for Hedo and Bosh gauranteed a good portion of the teams touches on offense, I would bet good money on Bargs averaging 18+points per game this year. He seems really polished. Plus , he finished last season off on a great note, and only seems to be gaining more confidence.

Reggie Evans could be the guy who has the most impact on our team this year. He seems to be a great hustle guy, great off the ball...and he has a mean streak that could help inject that much needed swagger the Raps of last year lacked...I just wished he smiled a little less.

Marco bellinelli...hmmm...I have a feeling we're going to be yelling at him to shoot it more often...and have a feeling that hes going to be doing alot of pumpfake+drive+kick out more than he should.

Jarrett Jack is the man, I wouldnt be surprised if he takes over Calderon at the 1 spot sometime this year. (but thats mostly from watching last season)

and yes, I know its only been one preseason game.
