Man, Martin has been unreal since his super slow start, would like to see some arbitrary splits on him this year.

He's been red hot for like 3 months now, and still only has his avg up to .239 (plus whatever from last night). Pretty amazing how bad he was to start the season.

Last night's game isn't up as of my posting this, so it's not reflected below, but click on one game and then click on another game and it will give stats for all the games in between.

Since May 26- 78 games- he's .266/.368/.512
July 1 to Aug 26- 38 games- he was .298/.400/.560

I am conflicted as to who I should root for in tonight's Bal/Bos game...

Nevertheless, it is surprising.

His footwork is really poor. He goes left well, though. Most or his problems are going right and to the bag. He also rushes the glove to hand transition and this has caused some errors. His arm strength seems average or slightly below. All is fixable with time.

As I said, I trust the defensive metrics if they say he is above average, but I think those who watch him would agree that there are some fundamental footwork issues and transitions that he really needs to work on.

TBE, You must be rubbing your eyes just a little bit of late.... the struggles continue, regardless of what the metrics say.

I am hopeful the offseason will improve him mechanically but he should be able to stop the "hurries" anytime.... I am sure they are all telling him to be patient and slow things down...

yeah pretty much. I mean, it's a really small sample, because lol defence, but yeah i've def noticed lately that he's booted a few. Remember Tulo's first 80 games without errors, and then his next 7 with 6 errors? Defence is weird.

Definitely not willing to say that Travis sucks D at D just because he's been playing poor defensively during the 3 weeks were the Jays have played like dogfcuk. But yes, I've noticed. Basically, I'm more willing to trust the 1+ years more than I trust the last 19 games.

To my eye, Travis seems to have good range and poor hands, given that players with poor range and good hands tend to be overrated, it would make sense the opposite is true.

When the alternative is Tepera (or Dickey), I'm not sure it much matters.

Would be so great if we could win with Dickey in there. He has been on the wrong end of some tough games this year where he just never got the run support.

Would hate to see him as the goat here......

I hate to do this, but go Red Sox...

Have not done that since back in the mid and late 70s.....

Yes, I am older than dirt, and yes I watched every game of the 75 WS between Cin and Bos..... watched them on channel 7 out of Bangor, Maine, IIRC...
