I didn't say I couldn't believe he's a D1 player, just that I can't believe he has such subpar handles for a combo guard. Dexter's one of my favorites on the team

does Barnes realize we need 20+ from him every game?

More like does Roy realize you should probably run plays for your best player? I think I've seen two screens set for Barnes in four games.

looks to me that since we have trouble scoring points Bullock needs to be getting more run. McD isn't a reliable perimeter threat.

this would be my starting 5 based on the early play this season: LD2, Dex, Bullock, Knox and Z.

also, i think LD2 needs to be looking for his 3 more often.

sigh.

our offensive unit is frustrating. i miss the days of hansbrough/lawson...but I guess Zeller is not doing that bad of a job in the paint. we need guys on the perimeter who will force a shot. i have watched where at times the team just keeps passing around the ball and basically nobody wants to take it. will have to play significantly better coming up. maybe the lineup has to be changed. playing in PR isn't easy but things aren't going to get much easier in the coming months. dukies must be creaming their pants after this ****.........****.

I know its only a few games in, but I guess it was just wishful thinking that Barnes was going to come in go bezerko and destroy all comers.

Is it possible this season is worse than last?

Will Roy affectively adapt to any opponent in game?

Is Barnes watching his NBA value go down the toilet?

I guess so. I hope Roy turns things around. The OOC isn't all that easy this season.

We won't have to worry about rankings since we almost tumbled out of the Top 25 completely after this weekends fiasco.

8 -> Freefall drop to -> 25 ESPN Coaches Poll

interesting Q&A today at Roy's news conference:

reporter: are you getting the sense that he [Barnes] is trying to do too much?

Roy: no... i get the sense he's not doing enough (followed by a slight chuckle).

agreed, that's why it's silly to get worked up so soon. they are talented, actually talented unlike last year, but they are still playing against decent teams that are more experienced. this isn't like last year where they looked meh/bad and it wasn't really clear how things were going to get better. barnes playing better will fix a lot of problems

just got finished watching the Vandy game for a 2nd time:

- Barnes didn't score during the last 8:14

- Barnes' defense is one of the worst on the team

- b/t the 8:14 mark and the 2:10 mark of the 2nd half, 10 of Vandy's 14 points came from the FT line

- LD2 is one of the best defenders on the team

Bullock out for tomorrow night with a knee injury. Roy was (allegedly) going to start him at the 2.

im still confident about this year, i never really thought we had a huge shot at a championship this year but i still think we can have a nice season

honestly its best case for barnes (if he really is as talented as hes supposed to be) to be average/underwhelming this year, him coming back next year would be huge (still a low chance at that though)

10 minutes in I was questioning this team.

It looks like the they will be able to handle sub-par opposition without question this year.

Too bad we only have about 5-6 cupcakes left on the schedule.

you mean best case for unc? having a meh year wouldn't help barnes going forward. his stock can only fall

Something that occurred to me watching the game last night is that Roy's run and gun system is really counterproductive when you don't have the players to execute it. Drew and Marshall have obviously been coached to push it every possession, and they do so even when the entire opposing defense is already back and set. It leads to turnovers and overall a forced quality to our offense that doesn't need to be there.

I would love to see us execute some calm, halfcourt sets, rather than constantly and frantically be looking for fast break opportunities that aren't there. Or rather that were there when Ty Lawson was running the point, but aren't with normal-speed PGs.

excellent team defense in 1st half (especially Dex) w/ HB showing better form on D.

offense still a work in progress. Henson is a ****ing joke on offense.
