I fell alseep but impressive performance. As others have pointed out, we haven't done that in a long time (well since 2009). Not sure how good Hofstra is but anyways I'll take it. We couldn't score that much against the worst DI team last year.

Didn't watch it....Kendall had 9 assists in 16 minutes, wow. LDII, 6 in 21 minutes so 15 in 37 minutes is pretty damn good. 29 assists and only 12 turnovers. PGs combined for a 15 to 3 A-T ratio which is something they need to keep doing. The PGs need to shoot better, but the rest of the team was pretty awesome shooting tonight.

As a lot on IC have said, Roy works better with a shorter rotation. He always seems to want to play too many guys and with Graves now gone, he's pretty much forced to keep a nice tight rotation which helps.

Other fans keep underselling Marshall but he's basically the definition of floor general. He's going to seriously challenge Cota's UNC assist record before it's all said and done.

Need to ratchet up the D which we've done so far this half.
nah man. marshall appears to have better feel and superior vision

edit: he's going to make some errors b/c he's a freshman and he likes to thread the needle from what i've seen, but these are errors of aggression. drew is too passive and tentative for my tastes. pg isn't supposed to dominate the ball or anything in this offense, but he has to dictate pace

watching this now btw

2: granted drew looks far more comfortable than last year, but he still looks less dynamic than marshall

Where is GeoffRas so I can tell him LD is the nut worst?

Really gonna start questioning Roy this year if he continues to give Drew minutes in favor of more talented backups.

Marshall already looks better in 2 games than Drew has in 3 years imo.

I'm pretty sure our best rotation is:

Marshall-Strickland-Barnes-Henson-Zeller

Then 2nd unit in order of minutes I'd give them in a competitive game:

McDonald-Bullock-LD2-Watts-Knox

Tonight is a legitimately tough test this early in the season. Minnesota is littered with upperclassmen who have played together and everyone has been raving about how good Ralph Sampson III has gotten, and Zeller has a history of porous defense against talented bigs.

Then of course Rodney Williams who is probably a top 10 athlete in the country and future NBA lottery pick. Watching Barnes on him will be a pretty good sign of how Barnes will deal with the athletic wings in the ACC.

haters gonna hate

our best lineup is pretty clearly

marshall, dex, barnes, henson, zeller

we need our guards to shoot better from the perimeter tonight is a big test

I think Drew's looked pretty decent, now that he has some offensive options to pass to. Not as good as Marshall, mind you, but IC is going a bit overboard on the DosHate, iyam.

That said, Marshall is clearly another league. Everything he does, he does for a reason--you can see the gears turning the entire time. I feel entirely confident every time he's on the floor. Unfortunately, Roy being Roy, I'm afraid we may be stuck with LDII starting the next two years unless he does something colossally stupid.

Also, is it really bul-LOCK, as Woody Durham has been pronouncing it?

Hubert D and the other announcer discussed it during the Hofstra game.

Maybe they need to shoot more from the perimeter, but I'm more than ok with a stat line %s of:

McDonald 5-8
Bullock 4-7
Strickland 1-2
Marshall 1-1
Drew 1-2

Are we saying Drew has looked decent simply because he hasn't been the COMPLETE trainwreck of last year?

Cause I haven't seen anything close to what I'd call decent for a UNC Starting PG

terrible last ~8 min to the half

at least we look decent on defense but w/o zeller AND henson in the game we still look like we will get crushed on the glass

I don't like Larry Drew and don't think he's a very good PG. With that said, I don't think he was the reason we stunk last year as so many seem to think and I also don't think he's nearly as bad as so many on this thread have made him out to be. He was top 10 in the country in assists last year and his A/TO ratio wasn't bad or anything. Do I want him starting and playing more than Marshall? No, but I don't think he's nearly as terrible as so many make him to be.

Back to more modern events, good God we looked terrible for a half.

hmmm, KM struggled at the end. McD needs to find the stroke, although McD is not forcing it and is getting clean looks.

HB... settle down, have the flow of the game come to you naturally and the offense will come.

Z w/ a solid half... his 2nd foul was total BS as he got 100% of the ball.

Henson smooth and fluid. He needs to get mean though when he goes up to dunk it.

LD2's shots hitting mainly glass but no rim or net.

Watts surprisingly becoming the player of the tournament for us in some ways. His contributions are going to be plenty for this team.
