Yeah Tony botched the end of the game pretty badly. To be fair though, he screwed up the beginning too.

When you are on the road in the 4th inning, up by a run, your lineup having gotten 2 ringing doubles and a walk in the inning, so the pitcher is looking like he is on the ropes, you DO NOT have your 6TH place hitter BUNTING. You let him swing away and go for the kill, and not play for 1 goddamed run with 18 outs still to get.

I still can't believe 2 runs didn't score on Albert's knock last night.

12 runs today, that should be enough of a cushion for the bullpen.

Its gonna be a fun weekend series in Wrigley. Time to beat up on some cubbies!

Anybody hear what the rationalization was for sending Ryan up in that spot? That made ZERO sense.

Good start iyam. Pujols taking 3rd in the 9th (though ultimately meaningless, thanks Yadi) was baseball poetry.

Another good win today. Tomorrow gonna be much tougher with the Big Z pitchin for the cubs.

Yadi's 2 out RBI got we to wondering just how clutch he is. I remember a couple of years ago even when his average was awful he always had plenty of RBIs. So here it is:

2008:
BA: .304
RISP: .340
RISP w/ 2 outs: .373 .508OBP
Bases Loaded: .455 .533OBP

Career:
BA: .264
RISP: .297
RISP w/2 outs: .310 .418
Bases Loaded: .280 .345

Pretty amazing.

Yeah I was watching the mlb.com gameday updates at work while on break and did a double take when it said that El Machina advanced to third on that play.

Exactly what I said on another board.

That play is the reason Albert Pujols is as good as he is. Intangibles, hard work, and brains. LOVE IT!

Hate to Cub Fan-up this thread, but no, not really. The reason he's so good is because he mashes the **** out of pitched baseballs.

And now a good elbow.

Also, no more chatter on Carpenter? It sucks, he was looking so good before he hurt himself too. Hopefully he won't be Mark Mulder all over again.

Everything there was to say we've already said over the last 2 years.

The fact that we might run away with the division without Carp is whats amazing.

GL to him. I have class so I won't be able to catch the first 3 innings or so, hopefully it wont be 5-0 when I get back. 5-0 Cubs, that is.

I have to lol at this too. You know there's 150 games left?

Meanwhile Perez gives up the lead.
