But Carpenter looked SOOOOO good the other day! Hope I'm not a fantasy baseball fish.
Depends on your definition of overpaid... I don't think we'll see the Cy Young Carp, but a very close one is not out of the picture.

I'm going to see the Cards-Scrubs Sunday. Then I have bleacher seats for the Mets on the 22nd.

We are unstoppable!

Every pitcher in the rotation has had a good start (and Lohse has had two). Obviously we're running above expectation from a starting pitching standpoint, and closer-by-committee teams don't usually work, but you can't help but think we can be a lot better than most people predicted.

No doubt we can, and should be. The Cards were actually a decent team last year (86 wins and I think our pathag was about that). And yeah we are ahead of expectations! We aren't winning 130 games this year!

I actually LOVE the closer by committee idea. The idea of a set closer is, imo, an antiquated concept. Why save your best bullpen pitcher for the ninth when the 2-4 hitters are up in the eighth? Why have a right hander go in the ninth against three consecutive lefties when we have a solid lefty in Dennys Reyes to go after them all?

Whywhywhywhy did Carp come out after 3? I can't watch the game for some unknown reason in St. L. It's not televised but Extra Innings is blacked out.

It's a strain of the left ribcage. It doesn't sound serious at all.

I hope.

Cards saying ribcage injury. It'd be really cool if we could believe anything they say regarding injuries.

In other new Dennys Reyes is a stud, I think we'd be in the playoffs last year with him on the team.

How does Schumaker not try to score there??? Oquendo is SOOO aggressive, that was really weird.

On the road and with our bullpen, I wish I could say I liked our chances in this one.

This.

That was a SLOW chopper through the infield...there is NO way that Skip couldn't have scored on that. He moves pretty damn well...I don't get it.

I also don't get why TLR had Ludwick in the on-deck circle, only to call him back and go with Brendan Ryan for one of the worst at-bats in the history of MLB. Ludwick is a flyball hitter, and all you need in a fly ball at that point.

GFY, bullpen. My alma mater is disowning Josh Kinney as we speak...

Matt Garza, Daniel Murphy, and Jordan Schafer for Carpenter straight up.

I have Ichiro and Upton coming off the DL, so I'm not worried about the OF... I woulda had to cut them anyway.

But as soon as he accepted I immediately thought I should have offered Paul Maholm or Ubaldo Jiminez instead of Garza. I drafted Garza several rounds ahead of Carpenter anyway, lol

OBLIQUE INJURY WTF!!!!!!!!

Such a fish

Skip was rounding the bag before the fielder even had the ball and Oquendo still held him up. I'm seriously shocked, it's one of the worst decisions I've ever seen him make. And Ryan pinch hitting was comical.

**** TLR for all of that. Putting Ryan out there, eating up our entire bullpen so quickly, then bringing out the lineup card and talking to the ump while Thompson just sits there after getting a HUGE out, and generally being a wildly overrated douche.

Why would you choose Ryan to hit against a rightie with a good slider, he chases that **** constantly!
