Lester's going to get the yips without ross behind the plate, duh

Cardinal Twitter pretty pissed we didn't sign Edwin Encarnacion at that contract.

Sole possession of first. Hopefully lasts more than one day.

Piscotty extension looks GREAT to me.

Yeah of he's for real it's a really great move. Thought that about Kolton too though and now the contract has us trying to rationalize playing him over the (vastly?) superior Gyrko

Defense is a thing, it's not vastly.

As for Piscotty, he was a top flight prospect who has hit the whole way, can't ask for a ton more.

I'm quoting this now because it might be the last time all year I'm right.

Cardinals starters
WAR: 2.6
FIP 3.23
ERA 3.38
WPA .87

Cub's starters
WAR 1.1
FIP 3.97
ERA 4.21
WPA .06

I'm also ignoring the second part of my post stating that Mike Leake has no upside. He has a 1.0 WAR. There's 5 pitchers who have matched or bested the Cubs WAR by themselves.

I wonder how long this will actually last.

Yeah the pitching has been absolutely outstanding. Will Leitch kept banging the Mike Leake drum, bringing up that his peripheral numbers were very comparable last year to previous years. He's obviously not this good, but it's nice to see that so far his k/9 is up and his bb/9 is down.

yeah his peripherals look very solid. He's passing the eye test as well, at least for me. It's like watching a different pitcher this year vs last.

On another note, as much as Martinez and Wainwright have seemed to struggle, they both have a higher WAR than Lynn and Wacha. I'm been impressed with most of Wainwright's starts as well-not so much the results as much as how his curve ball has looked. I'm optimistically excited about all 5 pitchers, even with the obvious concerns for essentially all of them.

I also think this bullpen could be GOOD. Bowman and Rosenthal have clearly been dominate. If Cecil and Oh pitched like they have in the past, that's 4 legit options every night. I'm down on Segrist at the moment, though. His stuff looks bad. He might be overworked/injured, kind of like Rosenthal last year.

It's unnerving that Rosenthal has to come into the 8th inning of a 4-0 game with 3 lefties coming up. I know cecil has sucked and there's an upcoming off day but Rosenthal's arm is going to fall off again

Cecil should never pitch in non-garbage time.

He may be the worst lefty specialist this team has ever had. That's saying something too since almost all of them are garbage.

Teach your kid to throw lefty. That's all it takes to get a $30 million contract.

I've take it back. He may be the worst at any level of baseball ever.

This Matheny extension looks worse and worse with each passing loss.

I am so disgusted by this team. They play awful baseball. TOOTBLAN everywhere, missing cutoff men and giving up extra bases, and they're managed by the worst manager I've ever seen. I absolutely cannot believe he ran Cecil out there and LEFT HIM IN AFTER CONCEDING THE LEAD IMMEDIATELY.

Unreal megatilt.
