Yeah, I just keep reminding myself that 2006 happened.

2011 was the wildcard. 2006 at least we won the division!

It's crazy how much depth this team has. our top 3 projected relievers are out, matt holiday, adams, wacha etc.

I'm just hoping they catch some fire with reyes and weaver and can ride some arms into a deep postseason run like wacha/rosenthal/martinez from a couple years ago.

reyes has looked amazing so far.

...and 83 games.

Plus Speel just said "catch fire with Reyes and Weaver." That's 2006 if I've ever heard it.

4 in a row and easy finish to the month scheduling after a few rest days. Really gotta push here

My father (RIP) gave me a custom "Weaver Believer" jersey after they won the 06 series.

Off topic but,

After Weaver's start I have never felt older watching baseball before. He looks like he's 16.

Man, that Gyorko-Jay trade sure was a solid one. In Mo We Trust.

Yes, the umpires blew the **** out of that call.
Yes, the challenge system is stupid, especially in this case.

But, Price is a moron. There is absolutely zero downside to challenging anything that is even remotely close. He should have been out on the field before Carpenter even crossed the plate.

Price is a moron for a lot of different reasons, but this is not one of them in my opinion. From his vantage point it was difficult to see the play, and the fielder didn't indicate anything was up on the play. his explanation after the game was reasonable

I don't think I've ever been more ambivalent about whether we make the playoffs.

Is Holiday gone??

Very likely. According to FG, Holliday was worth $168.6M over his 7 year/$120M contract. As always, In Mo We Trust.

Super don't understand the García trade. Money saver for no reason?

Didn't we just exercise his option? Seems like it's a case of turning him into something instead of letting him walk. I don't mind cutting bait at this point, we have a lot of guys coming in to compete for a starting spot and Jaime hasn't been healthy AND productive for a full season in a long, long time. Plus we've traded almost exclusively for Major Leaguers since the Freese deal, don't mind a jolt to the farm system.

I mean, wasn't a long time just 2015?

Dunno. Seems awful. Just not liking general direction.

He only was able to make 20 starts in 2015 though, that's like 2/3 of a season. I dunno, the prospects are nothing to get me excited about, but neither is Jaime at this point.

It does make it less likely that Matheny somehow ****s up with Alex Reyes and doesn't stick him into the rotation straight away. C-Mart, Waino, Reyes, LL and whatever we get out of Wacha/Leake/Weaver is a plus rotation.

I truly think that rotation can match what the Cubs are going to put out there next year... or at least keep it close enough to be competitive.

I know, I know, CUBSZOMG.....but they're getting older by the second. If not next year, definitely the following year. Lackey and Lester are bound for a melt down soon. The 5th spot scares me if it's Leake because he has literally 0 upside at this point and that's probably about Lester/Lackey's absolute bottom.

Lackey will fall off a cliff soon enough, but Lester? Lester is still extremely good.
