I haven't liked Ichiro for a few years as a player, but am sad to see him gone as a fan.

Stat of the week, the other days the Cardinals had more doubles in an inning than Smoak has all year. I wonder if the Mariner team management knows the definition of a sunk cost?

All said, it's been a positive year and we getting better. A perfect game, a combined no hitter and we are right around even in run differential...Basically a .500 club which is an improvement...all while the farm systems is being restocked and is much stronger than it was a few years ago

I just hope to have one of these young players turn into a superstar. It would be nice to have a player capable of perennially competing for MVP for the first time in a decade.

Well what do you think now? Mariners need some bats in the middle of their lineup. Smoak is a confirmed bust. I thought McClendon was a good hire due to his track record of working with and developing young players. I like him much more than I do Wedge. He sent Franklin down to Tacoma saying he was striking out at an alarming rate. If Miller keeps hitting like he has been he is down there to. You can't have a .160 hitter in your every day lineup.

Smoak is hitting 200 in Tacoma. Mariners have started winning a lot since he first went on the DL. Logan Morrison has been hitting well lately. No way Smoak gets back hitting 4th with Kyle Seager having the season he's having. I kind of hope Smoak starts tearing it up in Tacoma as it will increase the chances of some sucker making a trade for him.

Corey Hart doesn't look he'll be much of a factor. They brought up Montero, who actually has hit decently against lefties in the past, to DH against lefties but yeah I'm with you on a right hander in the lineup. King Felix is a great player and Fernando Rodney has been fantastic as a closer to this point. The Mariners have an excellent pitching staff and if Paxton can get back in the rotation then they'll be that much better. A long way to go in the season but at least there's reason to be optimistic.
