From the looks of things the Mariners should be much improved talent wise for 2010. Hopefully this leads to a mid 90's wins season and a division title. It would be our first since 2001 and the 116 wins. Of course this team is much more like the world series winning Diamondbacks from that year with two studs at the top of the rotation. Hopefully those are the results that can be duplicated.

The biggest things going on in spring training are moving Jose Lopez to third for the sake of infield defense. Figgins at second ftw. Also the hunt for a 4th/5th starter behind Felix, Lee, and Rowland-Smith. Realistic candidates are Snell, Fister, and Vargas. Obviously if/when Bedard returns he fills a spot. The pen is mostly solid (on paper obv) with the glaring lack of a lefty specialist. Lastly the lineup isn't set, however I think this will be something that changes daily unless an obvious middle of the order guy is aquired.

Come on Mariners fans, I don't want to be the only one posting in this thread. Mariners will be on the www.mlb.com preseason report March 30th btw.

Well Lopez is still at third and if you take everyone around the team at face value, he feels comfortable there. My main concern isn't whether he can butcher balls there like he did at second, because he is a zoo in the field. I am worried that his offense will suffer due to the move. Anyway Vargas pitched well today and we have Lee and Felix making their spring debuts in the next week. So far so good.

Well Buster Olney predicted the M's to finish last in the West. He questioned our offense with out a big bat. However he is high on the A's pitching. What hitter do they have again? Whatever. Tickets went on sale this morning. I have been to opening day every year since 2001, but am skipping it this year in favor of Detroit in the second series in the year.

Detroit, Griffey Jr bobble head, Felix/Lee scheduled start>>>>>>>>>>>A's, Magnetic schedule, Ian Snell imo

Come on people, there has to be someone else with some thoughts on these guys.

Link to this years commercials. IDK if other teams create commercials like this, but some of these can be terrific.

He did have a gold glover in Shane Victorino in CF, not to mention he got to pitch against the Nationals....but yea a full season in that ballpark will make him look even better.

Officially up to 10 posts. Unfortunately I have six. Maybe when we are in first at the end of April traffic will pick up.
Link to projected lineup and thoughts. Links on right hand side of page to pics of hot chicks. Gotta love the bleacher report.

link doesn't work atm.

I'll probably post from time to time, but the season hasn't started yet. How has everyone been doing down in AZ? Anyone new players standing out that might make the team?

due to the injury to jack hannahan http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=435219 matt tuiasosopo http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=449168 should make it as a utility guy. He is working at all positions to be versatile, and has a solid major league bat already. If he played everyday he would end up around .270-20-85 or so.

MILTON!!!

I can't even put a positive spin on this one. How soon before we can trade for Adrian Gonzalez?

Interesting article (insider required) about the Mariners' extreme focus on pitching and defense: http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insid...ory?id=5047038

The article puts a pretty positive spin on it, attempts to justify why power might not be needed, and claims the Mariners have a good shot at the Division Title. I'm not quite sold though, you still need to generate some runs somehow, and I don't know where this lineup will do that...

Well, with an improved staff over last years. (which lead the AL in era) and an improved offense, they are solid. So if they stay in contention until the trade deadline, I don't see Z pulling a Pat Gillick and not getting a big bat. Z did try to get Adrian gonzalez at the deadline last year. Can't wait to see Felix open the season tomorrow night!!!

btw I legitimately hate the Simms/Blowers booth. Simms is okay, but I've never liked listening to the nasally twang of Blowers. At least Rizz is no longer here with him.

Gonna be tough for Felix to win 20 if the pen can't hold leads. Kotchman got it done though, hopefully a sign of things to come.

How fun would baseball be if everyone rooted for the same team? The Yankees suck. Here is a picture for proof.
