"Pleasantly surprised", I guess, sums up my feelings to this point. If you had told me that they'd be last in runs scored and next to last in team SLG, I would not have been at all surprised, but a notch over .500 30 games in? Definitely surprising.

Based on a small sample, it sure looks like Randy Johnson would be best served pitching every 6 or 7 days which leads me to wonder - if you had a pitcher that you knew would pitch at or above average, but needed to have extraordinarily long rest, would you still run him out there, even if it messed up the rest of your rotation, or is it best just to let this guy stink every other start and keep everyone else on their normal rest?

It'd sure be a lot nicer if they could run a lineup out there that would score 800 runs instead of 600 runs...might actually be able to make some noise in October.

I was kicking this around in my head yesterday and the only thing I could imagine would be an RJ home/road platoon. This guy is still money with the rest and combined with at home, he may be close to unbeatable still.

No way you could sacrifice any schedule of the rotation though...Cain and timmay would certainly object and even the suggestion could lead to uncomfortable conversations.
