Well at least we have a million draft picks this year to find a corner, get some depth on the D Line and find an eventual replacement for Gore.

We have 12 picks... plus we got Revis... as long as Alex and Carlos are gone.... so basically we will GOAT it up

lol, Revis being traded anywhere was just a silly rumor wasn't it?

Not completely. He is coming off an injury and has only one year of being a "cheap" cornerback. Unlikely the jets pay him $15 mil/year when they have huge needs elsewhere. If Revis wants a championship, SF seems like the best landing spot. They also have the only non-draft pick that's worth mentioning as part of a trade.

Ugh, very disappointing, plus lost out on a $180 payout for a little futures bet. Needs are already stated, upgrade CB, add depth to DL, find another kicker. Historically, especially in the salary cap era, is just seems so hard to keep improving year-over-year without a setback, so hopefully they can get back to this level next year.

Don't know how hurt Revis is, haven't really followed the Jets other than the Sanchize lulz, but it would be nice to have an absolute shutdown corner (not even sure what that means with the rules these days). Rogers seems like a chill guy on the radio, but he gets abused regularly and Culliver isn't good enough to pop off about anything, so he gone.

Wow. I don't remember posting this at all...

Anyways, obviously will need a kicker... but than I think we need some sort of rotation with our pass rushers.

I think our offense will be pretty elite next year. An off season for Kaep/Roman and getting Manningham, Hunter and Williams back will help. Hopefully AJ Jenkins and LaMichael James both improve too.

I'm still very upset/sad about the loss, but it was a great season and its comforting to know the QB position is set for a while.

We have a ton going for us. I'd love to get Revis but I doubt it happens.

Here is my ideal off-season.

Trade Alex and 2nd for Revis--they can have Rogers as well if they want or Culliver. There was some rumor alex for revis and a second and I lol at that.

Waive Akers, waive Harylson, waive Goodwin (try to re-sign at a much lower price but his $ figure is too high), don't re-sign Walker, Issac. Hell I'd waive Rogers if we don't trade him. Not sure if Moss wants back...I'd like to keep him but not sure.

Re-sign RJF and Goldson.

The rest of the moves will be in the draft.

Draft a DE/NT in the 1st round and 3rd round. We desperately need depth. Draft a RB in the mid rounds to eventually replace Gore. I'd love to have Lattimore. High upside, risky but we have a year to wait until Gore is done. Draft a safety and center in the mid rounds to either start at center or groom at safety. In the latter rounds, start looking for some depth at OLB which has been an issue for this team. Draft a TE and WR in the late rounds. Kicker in the 6th/7th rounds.

Left with:

QB: CK, Tolzien, draft pick
RB: Gore, Hunter, LMJ, Draft Pick
WR: Crab, Jenkins, Manningham, Kyle, draft pick (maybe moss)
TE: Davis, Celek
OL: Staley, Iupati, Rookie (potentially one of our last couple of picks or Goodwin if he'll take a pay cut), Boone, Davis

DE: McDonald, RJF, Justin, Dobbs, Draft
NT: Draft, RJF
LBers: Willis, Aldon, Bowman, Brooks, Grant?, Draft Pick
CBs: Revis (ideal obviously), Culliver, Brown, Cox
Safeties: Goldson, Whitner, Draft pick

P: Lee-GOAT
K: Draft
KR: Kyle, James
PR: Draft (James)

Big keys with next years team are we need Justin to be well and we need to find some help on the DL to let Aldon get free.

A year with offseason and the system should take CK from very good to great IMO. OL will still be stacked, our top 2 receivers will be Davis, Crab for the foreseeable future. I'd love to get some big receivers/TE to balance our attack in the red zone.

Akers needs to go. Contract is too big and I can't take his missing much longer. I would love to see this team especially with Revis. I honestly doubt we get him, but even if we don't and end up getting another 2nd or something for Alex I would take a CB and a TE with the extra 2 second round picks.

Don't the Jets have a significant salary commitment to Sanchez next year? I don't see how they get Smith. In fact, it's sportstalk mumbo-jumbo, but I wouldn't be shocked if they end up keeping Smith since Kaepernick is so cheap right now. If it's Kap/Tolzein/draft pick, they're a Kap injury away from the season going down the toilet. If Smith is backing him up and there's an injury, they can go back to winning games 19-17 as long as they get a kicker and patch the holes in the defense.

Will see. I love Smith but at the same time I can't see him sticking around. It's first of all weird. And second of all, Harbs has shown he is the GOAT QB developer. I bet we waive Smith before retaining him for the season. Harbs would draft / take an unsigned guy and develop him. I'm not saying I'm against retaining Smith for the reasons you gave, I just don't see the front office doing it. And it would be great for Smith to be given another legit shot.

How do we feel about maybe signing Titus Young?

I think our "The team" mentality could turn him around.

No thanks, unless it's for the vet minimum. I think we can find better options. Players, vets especially should want to come to the 9ers for a great shot. We need WRs especially big guys (see Boldin). I really want a big and tall WR/TE to give us a red zone target. Not sure if we can get a cheap FA (doubt) or take a guy in the draft but it would give us another wrinkle we could use. Titus is similar sized to our current WRs? Is he a great deep threat? That's the other thing we need but maybe that's something Jenkins can do (LOL at Jenkins though).

Justin to have surgery. 3 months to get healed and then rehab. HOpe for the best, we need the guy. I'm convinced if he was 100% healthy, we win the SB. He was that marginal during the hole playoffs and despite that we were 5 yards from a SB title.

That was about as nasty a defeat as I could ever imagine. However the future is very bright. Kaepernick sure does look like a pretty spectacular franchise QB. Crabtree has had his coming out party (not that kind of coming out Chris...)

To me the only part of the team that seems shaky right now is the secondary, oh and lol Akers of course.

For how long can one expect Justin Smith to be elite?
San Francisco 49ers: Shaking Hands Too Hard Quote

I think we have a bigger need of DL depth than secondary. But really with 12 picks we should be drafted the best player available while trading for more picks next season.

Since the Niners are up against the cap for 2013 I don't think these 4 players will be on the team. It would open up over $21,000,000 in cap space.

1. David Akers ($3,616,667)
2. Johnathan Goodwin ($5,016,667)
3. Parys Haralson ($2,870,000)
4. Alex Smith ($9,750,000)

Draft picks can replace Akers, Haralson and Alex for league minimum. Daniel Kilgore can be the center.

The Niners need to resign Goldson, Sopoaga, RJF, along with maybe Moss, Larry Grant, Delanie Walker.

Sign Mike Wallace too.

i'm up for harvin but mike is a nut bag who played terribly this year. i'd much rather get a burner that wouldn't cost that much in either the draft or FA. i can't see us being overly aggressive in the FA market b/c we haven't in the past and we have guys we need to retain like Goldson. wallace is going to want like 10M/year which is a number we can't afford going forward.

in the future this team is going to be smart in retaining Iupati, A. Davis, CK, Crab, Aldon and adding a ton of cap probably isn't smart. I think we need to be a great drafting team more than a great FA place. I like getting value FAs who want a ring but I don't like over paying FAs unless they are guys like Justin who we can't get in the draft anymore due to our position. We shouldn't spend a ton of money for complimentary guys.

Wow. Cleared the $9.5M cap number from Alex and got the 34th pick and a similar pick in 2014 is so awesome IMO.

Now the Niners have like 15 picks this year.

Damn, wish I followed college. That would make 15 picks so fun for me to follow.
I'll be pissed 4 years from now if we don't get 1 or more Aldon like HOFers.

Nice last couple of days. McCoy for basically nothing and now Awesome-wa!

13 picks and close to the cap means either cuts or restructuring. I hope any restructure deal doesn't hurt the chances to sign Crabtree, Iupati, Davis and Aldon long term.
