So what is the range of outcomes for Kaepernick's career?

Young to Young? As in somewhere between Vince and Steve?

So we did win the game. CK looked pretty good. We had a bunch of penalities which sucked and kept us from blowing them out. A big issue we had today was injuries: KW looked bad, Kendall Hunter should be back (twisted ankle) and we can handle his loss, Anthony Davis has a dislocated finger and should be able to play. Walker hurt his hip which could be bad. Maybe this means will see some of Jenkins and James the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, this is it on the injury front from this game.

Injuries are never good, but I think we actually have the depth to fade these without much trouble. Guess time will tell.

Williams out for the year... Hunter I'd imagine wont play for a couple weeks... besides that, the injuries seem fine...

We have been fortunate in that department under Harbs... (knock on wood)

Kaep is the starter and this team is way better than 2011 IMO. The defense over achieved so much with TOs in 2011... this year they just dominate for the most part.

I cant wait until Sunday. Ill be in St. Louis! 2nd game of the year! Had a blast at Lambeau and hopefully they win.. and not tie!

Lets get to 9.5-2.5!!!

The fact that your 1st and 2nd round picks are inactive all year and healthy... has to do with depth more than anything IMO.

As long as we don't lose Gore or Davis we'll be OK. Gotta get it done this year, because it looks more and more like a rematch vs. NYG in the NFC 'ship game again (Bears and Falcons are frauds, NO and GB have huge liabilities).

Only the Giants and Pack Show worry me. Hopefully they are 4 and 5 of we get the 2 seed. Bears should be able to handle Pete or whoever is the 6.

Btw... NYG worries me so much more than Pack Show

he was averaging 6.5 carries and less than 1 reception per game. it can't really matter that much especially with how great the line is at run blocking.

At least they got Bowman locked up thru 2018 although we will all be dead soon

Walker is fine. Anthony Davis should be fine as well. Hopefully LMJ or Jacobs or Dixon are able to give us some solid production at backup RB. I hope these injuries don't derail anything. I think our core is fine and our depth is strong.

I'm a big fan of Harbaugh, but I worry about the precedent he is setting now by essentially making it known that you can lose your job because you got injured one week. As happy as I am that the Niners look SB-bound, I really feel for Alex Smith, because he has been through a lot with this team and I finally felt like he was going to get his due this year. Instead, he takes an unlucky hit, won't get to be the hero of a season, and will probably be with a new team next year. That's kind of a gut shot.

With Hunter out, can we expect more passing to minimize risk to Gore in the coming weeks?

Free Smith IMO.

I just don't even care about the QB thing at this point, as it seems this team should be good enough to win regardless of who is playing. My larger issue is the random playcalling and they need to get this kicker thing straightened out pronto.

That fumble play looked an awful lot like that ****ty end around they tried to run with Williams in the title game, only he got lucky and fell on it when the ball hit the ground. What is the point with running these super-risky plays deep in your own end like that?

What a ****ty game. 3 minutes to go deep in our own end and we run a stupid option play? Wtf?

The rams are better than last year but they certainly arent "we can play 149.6 minutes of football against the niners and come away without a loss" good.

Ugggh

Anti-Alex statuses have me rustled. I like Kaep and all, but it seems like the pro-Kaep Niner faction has an unbridled hatred for Smith as the cause of all things wrong with the team. I grow concerned about a civil war if the Niners fail to make/win the SB.

I generally don't give two ****s about sports talk radio bits, but I have to give props to the gushing over Ted Robinson right now, with his seamless call of "Michael Hoomanawanui". Funny stuff, and the listener call-in part is going to be a car wreck.

No one has mentioned in this thread yet but LMJ is really amazing and is going to be elite 3rd down back/returner once he adjusts to the speed of the NFL. He still runs like he can juke everyone in college and score every play but at the same time he isn't making ridiculous gambles like some young speedsters try to do.

I had 3rd row endzone seats for the Miami game. Really fun to see that POV in a NFL game for running/blocking game. LMJ side to side movements were jaw dropping.

i think we discussed it in the game thread or something after the dolphins game. i'd assume that with a little more bulk and time he can be an every down back but i dunno if that would take away from his speed/moves. shrug

Looks like the director of officials admitted they botched the call on Delanie's fumble. I'm not particularly shocked that was wrong. Ed spent no time and I thought it would have been a tough decision. Whatever, good thing it didn't matter but really sucks that they would miss something so clearly wrong and do it so quickly in a huge spot.

Copied from another board:

Quote:
Just saw Dean Blandino (Director of Officiating) on NFL breaking down the non-turnover in the Steelers Cowboys game and 49ers Patriots game. Identical plays, the Steeler's game called it an incomplete pass while we were hit with the turnover.

In the end, Blandino said the Steelers' game was called correctly, and the call in the 49ers Patriots game was incorrect -- it should have been an incomplete pass. He made the case that a catch is a 3-part process: Establish control, both feet in bounds, and enough time passing to make a football move. In order to confirm the third part, the replay official is supposed to watch the play in real time.

Further went on to say the NFL Replay official reviewed the play in the booth, but failed to watch the play in real time to correctly rule whether the third condition was met, but the field official never went under the hood to review the play since the official in the booth deemed this "obvious."

Apparently the two plays, which are incredibly similar, are now going to be used as a training video for the rest of the league officials in an attempt to remain consistent.....

Jump around baby. Not happy about the start but wow. GB D isn't great but CK was awesome after that point. D wasn't great but penalties and some lucky passes for Rodgers. Only gave up 24 on D--easily could have been 10 (lol penalty call, and lol Jones catch (which was amazing).
