They had Seattle totally ****ed on some of those Wing-T formations. If they had a half decent option throwing the ball, they could have done serious damage.

iirc, they only passed out of the taser formation once, and spurlock missed a wide open WR

Yeah, that's the play I am thinking of. Only requires one or two attempts per game to be pretty effective, though.

i'm pretty sure it was vernon davis he missed but yeah he was gonna get huge yardage. spurlock played a good bit of qb in college so i have no idea how he could miss the throw that badly.

on the run it looked he would have picked up the first down easy if he hadn't fumbled, too. maybe it was nerves or something but man he looked bad running it.

if they're found to have tampered with crabtree, i think the jets should be forced to send their next 8 first round picks to the niners.

well, maybe only 6. wouldn't want to get greedy.

Idk if this has been said, maybe updated?

How much are the niners offering crabtree as far as contract, guarnteed money, and years compared to what hes asking for in all 3 categories

A couple of long runs by Gore a week ago notwithstanding, the Niners have to get more creativity into the running game.

0 for 11 on 3rd down with an average yards to go at 9.2. I hope Singletary/Raye get blasted for that last series. They have to throw more on first down.

Not too crazy about rushing 3 in the last defensive stand.

Aside from the obvious disappointment, I'll have to find something else to listen to during my commute this week because Barbieri's incessant bitching will cause me to turn my car into oncoming traffic.

Aaaaand that's what happens when you don't know how to put a football game away.

A dropped INT that would have been returned for a TD to win the game, plus a 3 and out when all you need is a first down to end the game (plus the 3 and out with 5 minutes left on the clock)...you can't get away with that against good teams.

You've got to be ****ing kidding me. Regardless of the other stuff like the dropped int, the two three and outs in the last five minutes, how do you let a receiver get by you in that situation. There were only two defensive backs in the endzone and neither were in position when you know the other team needs a TD. How?

I racked my brain and I think there was actually one worse loss in recent years, a few years ago Tim Rattay completed a pass to some receiver with like five seconds left, and instead of sliding down and calling time out to go for a game-winning field goal, he kept running and the clock ran out.

Wait what am I thinking, 1st and goal from the 1 with 50 seconds left vs AZ and they get off two running plays, Niners finish the year 7-9 Card 9-7 and go to the superbowl, HMMMMMM

Young teams/coaches/organizations trying to put a decade of fail behind them have to go thru this sort of thing, esp when they're trying to do it without a franchise QB, but it still sucks.

Epochal fail on the last play, criminey, defense 101 in that situ. GO BEARS & COLTS.

I wish I didn't listen to him enough to know how funny this is.

I avoid the talk shows for the most part, but there's always some extended stretch during the baseball season where the radio gets parked on KNBR and I take it in in all its glory. It always ends with some host or caller saying something so idiotic that my finger changes the channel before my brain has even registered what has transpired.

This usually happens to me when I hear, "We make the phones ring, we make the phones..."

I keep listening because I like the fact that Tolbert legitimately seems to not care and he's always talking about betting. I have been listening to more and more random FM music recently, though.

Barbieri is unintentionally funny because he wants to give this image of being this erudite intellectual (ZOMG I has an MBA) but he is such a results-oriented innumerate that it's almost sad that so many appear to buy into his POVs (PsOV?).

ETA: What will be lost in all this is a glimpse of what Vernon Davis could be. Very nice game.

Guys that was not bad defense (other than Justin Smith missing Favre) the window for that ball was basically the size of the football, the receiver has to make the catch cleanly or its out of bounds, etc. The killer as Goofy mentioned was Bly's drop, I don't think they are going to get a first down on that last series if they aren't willing to pass the ball, and if they had tried and had an incompletion we'd all be whining about that. I'm just going to tip my hat and acknowledge what a great play that was and hope it doesn't affect the team going forward.

Don't forget the two bogus personal foul calls that gave the Vikes a free field goal.
