Perhaps RAJ just wants to saying he did find a way to re-sign Hamels.

Think Lee has a no trade clause. Plus he took less $$ to come to Philly he not going anywhere.

Re: Philadelphia Phillies: Free Dom Brown!
Cole re-signs, they do as much dealing as they can for salary relief including some or all of Blanton, Shane, Polanco, Wigglesworth, etc. to avoid the luxury tax this season so they don't get raped when they almost necessarily exceed it next year. Hopefully they realize Jimmy is actually worth just about exactly what he gets paid and should be kept.
Upside, we keep Cole and hopefully maintain the ability to reload smartly for next season. Downside, the farm system won't be getting anything particularly exciting.

Re: Philadelphia Phillies: Free Dom Brown!
Why?
I'd rather have Lee on the Phillies and not be hoping that whatever prospects we get back don't turn into the next Matt LaPorta.
They're not in rebuilding mode. They have enough talent that a few tweaks around the edges should put them right back in contention next season.

Because it would be pure awesomeness?
I fully concede it isn't optimal if you want to actually, you know, have a good baseball team.
However I've pretty much conceded Ruin Tomorrow will ruin next year, so actually having a good baseball team is unlikely and any steps taken in that direction are pointless.

Re: Philadelphia Phillies: Free Dom Brown!
I gotta say, though, I'm a little concerned that these last few days are going to make Ruben think this team is something that it isn't, and do something stupid like I said in poast #9761. :<
