first game in Carolina on the 2nd, pretty excited for it.
have only had time to listen to a couple of preseason games on the radio so far. slight concern for the goaltending as usual and I expect a lot of high scoring games this season.
apparently Randy Jones is now on waivers as well.

go Flyers!

I'm admittedly not the best hockey fan, and they won't get a whole lot of my attention during Phillies/Eagles season, but gogogoogogogogo Flyers imo. I'll catch up with you in a couple months!

What are their line combos looking like?

Gange-Richards-Briere
Hartnell-Carter-Pyorala/Laperriere
JVR-Giroux-Pyorala/Laperriere
?-Betts-?

Pronger-Timmonen
Carle-Coburn
Parent-?

Last year I was on board the Chicago Blackhawk bandwagon.

This year my bandwagon team is the Flyers. They just look so good with Pronger now.
Good luck.

The game was on channel 201 (comcast HD channel) it is something like a secondary csn channel. someone else might be able to shed more light on what it is exactly but some games will be on there.

It's the Comcast Network, formerly CN8. When the Flyers/Phillies and once the NBA starts Flyers/Sixers both have games on the same day, which ever team is at home will have their game shown on CSN and the other team's game will be on TCN.

The only Flyer that swallows is Ray Emery when he swallows the puck, something the league should get used to pretty fast.

ha ha fair enough. certainly the team doesn't have any obviously repressed homosexuals like the rangers w/ sean avery.

btw i like the flyers' chances more than most i think. the one key for them is penalties. there's so many guys that cannot stay out of the box - hartnell, carcillo, pronger, laperriere, and on and on. the penalty kill has to be excellent.

Yeah this is the best Flyers team in recent memory. The '07-'08 team was obviously good but they got hot at the right time and there were obvious holes there that Pittsburgh took advantage of. Last year it was pretty much the same team, but this time it was the Penguins who were on a heater.

As far as the penalties, the good part about the team is that their PK is superb. This is just the way that they play and I think we're just going to have to get used to it. Every team is going to have their flaws, and luckily the Flyers have great special teams which allows them to get away with it more than most teams.

well not to split hairs, but they really don't need either carcillo or laperriere, and if they have one they definitely don't need both. but yeah giroux is going to be a hell of a player, van riemsdyk probably too, and top to bottom the forwards are probably the best in the league.

They have those guys because they're cheap and do an effective job. They probably don't need Carcillo, but I like what I've seen from Laperriere to this point. He's done a great job on the PK, threw in a goal against NJ, and perhaps most importantly has 0 PIM. We'll see how the latter develops down the road, but if he can kill penalties while staying out of the box, he is exactly what this team needs. Also, every time the Betts-Laperriere-Carcillo line has been on the ice, they have had a great forecheck and are putting a lot of pressure on the other team.

It's hard to watch hockey with the NFL and especially the MLB playoffs going on, but I'm glad it's back nonetheless. Only 80 games until playoff time!
