Definitely some missed throws there for sure, hopefully Kolb gets better on this with time.

Some really good examples in that link of times when he had guys open down the field and either didn't see them, missed the throw, or took the checkdown anyway. (Although in his defense, I'm certain you could put together a similar reel of plays when Vick missed open guys down the field).

Hopefully that's something that comes with more confidence though. I'm sure he's watching a lot of film of himself, and you would think they'll be working on his progressions and emphasizing throwing the ball down the field. Having a full game worth of film to break down and a whole week to prepare for an opponent when he knows he's going to take every snap should be good for him. We'll learn a lot Sunday night about where he is right now.

I watched that yesterday and found it concerning, but I think it's fixable with film study and practice.

Agreed. I think we will see an aggressive Kolb this coming Sunday, or at least I hope so. Mistakes are ok in my book. I think special teams and defense are going to need to come up huge so that if kolb does make a mistake, it's not inside his own 30. We need to win the field position battle and not be playing from behind the 8 ball all game

yeah it's not like he is having huge mechanical problems or lacks the skills necessary to be competent. it makes perfect sense that one of the weaknesses of a guy who has limited game-day experience would be stuff like this. probably just needs more experience with decisionmaking, studying himself on film (looking at yourself in the mirror), etc. I won't be worried until I see clear regression

That was ugly, especially late.

Kolb was good. At times he was very good making some really nice throws.

He looks pretty helpless (at least compared to Vick) in some spots when the pocket collapses or he doesn't have time. With our offensive line in the state it is, that's certainly one factor working in Vick's favor.

A wins a win though, so I'll sure as hell take it.

the injuries are brutal
