Nice sweep of Washington at home. Now let's see if we can do the same to the White Sox.

how does a team this good have so few fans....

They are repeatedly good, but not great. Besides, have you ever been to Oakland?

Good news: Still have the best record in baseball. Bad news: Still can't beat the Tigers and just got swept.

I think the GWGS might have lingering effects.

DEAL IS DONE: #Cubs send Samardzija and Hammel to #Athletics for Addison Russell, per sources. May be other players and team(s) involved.

Wow. No question the future is now.

I'm guessing Chavez is getting demoted, either to Sacramento or perhaps to long relief, in which case Jim Johnson will finally have to be cut.

Milone sent down to make room for samardzija. Still has options, apparently chavez does not. No 25 man move made for hammel yet. I dont know how they get away with that, but mills still around to help the bullpen for today's game at least before getting his likely dfa.

i worry greatly about chavez's (and to a lesser extent, that of kazmir and gray) durability.

Moss hit his first home run today in 39 games.

The worst is over now. Doolittle is back and there's no reason we can't finish the season strong.

The last two months was just a long slide down a hill, and not being able to figure out how to make it stop. One run loss after one run loss. It's sad to have a feeling that you're going to lose, even with a four run lead. Even sadder to see it happen.

I'd be sick to my stomach about trading Addison Russell + for 2 months of Lester. Woooof.

Royals quickly dashed any hopes.

If they get to say, 5 under by the break, anything can happen. Is Doolittle still alive? Might only need 87 or 88 wins.

Happy birthday Terrence Long.

So back in like 02 I was in Minneapolis at the old Metrodome for a game once.

Whole LF bleachers are empty, except for us. So these dudes sit directly behind us.

In the late innings, Long comes up to hit and the one guy yells at a volume that echos throughout the entire dome:

"Hey Terrence, I've seen you in the locker room and it's not that long!"

Nothing to see here, just my favorite Terrence Long moment for his b-day.
