Does Jeter have too much pride to work with Kevin Long? Doesn't seem like power is his problem, he just can't make solid contact with the ball ... maybe his eyes are f'ed

I'd be surprised if this is fixable. His eyes are probably fine. Someone mentioned on Francesa yesterday that he needs to hit the gym and take off 20 lbs so he starts hitting more and I couldn't stop laughing.

He's old............when you're old, your reflexes aren't as sharp and you lose your ability to meet the ball as quickly. He has to start his swing earlier in order to compensate, and that leads to a much wider strike zone as he has less time to decipher if it will be over the plate.

I'd also be surprised if Kevin Long could teach Jeter very much about the art of hitting. Apparently he tried to change his swing in the offseason and it was a failure.

I got into an argument w a female customer last week bragging about her fantasy baseball team...she namedropped Jeter as part of her "I have no problem with my hitting". I started moaning about Jeter and how he needs to suck it up and move down the order. She was flabbergasted YOU CANT DO THAT HES DEREK JETER. lol women. "Mike Leake has been really good for me this season...on the Reds"

jeter has a pretty nice grouping of hits - maybe he should bunt every time?

That spray chart looks an awful lot like this. One of the MLB GMs who reads this thread should hire me.

I have a bad feeling about this bunt. Worse than usual.

Joe: "So the pitcher has no control, has walked the first 2 batters in the inning and is now behind Gardner 2-0."
Random child in the crowd: "What should we do?"
Old woman who has never watched a game in her life: "Lay down a bunt, I think."
Joe: "Great idea!"

It's so great that Jeter can be terrible and still have good stuff happen for the Yankees. It's a win-win for me.
