Dubinsky sucks, Kreider seems pretty awesome from what I've seen. I dunno. I'll defer to the experts.

Re: New York Rangers: Snatching lol from the jaws of victory

Not complaining, but it is unfortunate that a combo of LINNNNN, the NYG, and New Yorkers being baseball/football crazy in general has led to soooo much less coverage of the Rangers than they deserve. A shutout in Boston? Lundy seriously outduels Thomas? Callahan playing like a man possessed?

We badly need some RANGER love in da NYC

Yes, that would be a snap call but that won't be close to enough.

Re: New York Rangers: Snatching lol from the jaws of victory

very torn on the prospect of acquiring Nash. down year, but lets be real, that dude is awesome. It's funny, id be more upset losing Kreider too. Dubinsky is a glue guy though, he hasn't put up the points, but i cant imagine this team without him. I heard McDonagh's name thrown out there too -- F off.

oh ive also seen a lot of people say "No Tim Erixon!" which yeah, im excited about him, but we have a great young core of D-men. i forgot Sauer is still out there recovering. I'd trade Erixon in a second for Nash.

Man, we have a great team, and a great future. i feel bad for ever talking crap about Sather.

Re: New York Rangers: Snatching lol from the jaws of victory

As much as I love Nash the asking price is going to be too high and his cap hit is huge. I'd rather go after Bobby Ryan. Asking price will be high but salary is much more manageable.

Awesome win last night.

the problem with getting rid of dubi is that as someone else mentions that would really really change team chemistry..i say either trade him for a prospect and a draft pick, or just leave it alone...really dont want to trade anyone who is a real part of this team

I would agree if we'd be talking about Ovi or Kovalchuk but Nash is hardcore, dig in kind of dude. I'd hate to see Dubi go but Nash is just awesome. On the other hand, cap hit would be horrendous and could kill teams future. So many young kids are due for a raise within next 2-3 years and they may not be able to sign them if they get Nash. Can't be anything worse then not being able to sign McDonagh, DelZotto, Stephan, Haglin, Sauer just because you don't have extra 500k available under the cap.

Re: New York Rangers: Snatching lol from the jaws of victory

I would not trade for Nash. The asking price as has been pointed out is Dubi, McDonagh or Del Zotto, Kreider and a 1st rounder. To me that is way too much to give up, any deal involving McDonagh or Del Zotto is an automatic rejection on my part. The other thing to consider is Nash's salary, it's $7.8M for a long-time. The Rangers would have huge salaries in the form of Gaborik, Nash, Richards and Lundqvist and has anyone looked at the salaries of our young players? McDonagh and Del Zotto are like $1.3M and going to get raises, Stepan is $875K and will get a raise, we have tremendous youth talent in our farm system with McIlrath, Kreider, JT Miller, Tim Erixon, etc. who will be cheap yet hopefully effective options. I see no reason to trade for Nash. Yes he would probably better our chances for a cup this year but the Rangers are trying to build a team that can win multiple cups over the next 5-7 years (as long as Hank is Hank). We also take ourselves out of any potential free agency for the next couple of years and there are lots of good players out there, don't see why we have to commit to Rick Nash. Here is an article from Larry Brooks also saying not to get Nash: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/range...M9bVNg1K529ZNI

I would actually be in favor of trading Dubinksy and getting his $4.2M salary off the books. I know that Wolski's $3.8M contract and Fedetenko's $1.4M contract come off the books after this season, getting rid of Dubi and those two opens up $9.4M in cap space which we can use to lock up Stepan and McDonagh and Del Zotto and sign a player like Brad Boyes or one of the many other free agents. Plus trading Dubinsky opens up the door for a young player in our farm system.

Re: New York Rangers: Snatching lol from the jaws of victory

Yeah trading for Nash and his massive contract seems pretty short-sighted. It also feels like selling low on Dubi AND going back on what's made us so good. Trading a top prospect plus a first and a good young D-Man + Dubi for a massive salary seems like the old ways IMO.

Short-sighted. Plus, we're pwning the league with what we have. We seem to have as good a shot as anyone at the cup. I'd prefer a slightly decreased cup chance this year for long-term team health. Maybe that's bad. Maybe you're supposed to go for it hard if you ever sniff the cup. But it seems like with all the variance in the playoffs, increasing the number of solid shots you get at it seems just as good as slightly increasing one shot.

Re: New York Rangers: Snatching lol from the jaws of victory

And it's not like Dubi is done. He was our leading scorer last year wasn't he? Also look at the line Dubinsky is playing on with Boyle and Prust. That third line has a specific function and I think they are doing a GREAT job. Put Dubinsky with Stepan and Gaborik and we see a different player. In fact I rather have Anisimov on the 3rd line than Dubi.

Rather keep our young assets and have the ability to go after any free agent we want for the next few years than trading for Nash. There are other forwards we could acquire besides Nash too...
