Last 2 guys on the bench are Castro and Reyes now. A huge LOL when one of them comes to PH for the pitcher in the 9th, and we're left wondering "WTF? How about the 8th"

Yea, still a good end result. Hopefully the dodgers struggle for a bit more as they adjust to life without manny.

Well I hope Ollie can get healthy soon. Tim Redding starting games scares me.

ehhh i dont think it's a coincidence that we have won 11 out of 14 or w/e it is since Ollie has been put on the DL, for all I care he can stay on there for the rest of the season and we can figure something else out.

For me, the most important stat is 4 bb. I don't want him back until he shows some semblance of control.

It's not out of the question either. In the last couple of years, there were a few stretches where he hardly walked anyone. Why he can't do that regularly is beyond my meager imagination.

Carlos Delgado will miss at least two months.

Quote:
LOS ANGELES -- Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur and repair a torn labrum in his right hip, the team announced Monday.

The surgery is set for Tuesday in New York City.

Delgado, 36, was placed on the disabled list Saturday with an impingement of his right hip, which caused a tear of the labrum in the joint. It is an identical injury to the one suffered by Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and Royals third baseman Alex Gordon.

Rodriguez needed roughly two months to recover; Gordon was given a similar timetable.

Delgado was hitting .298 with four home runs before the injury. In his absence, the Mets have been playing with Fernando Tatis and Jeremy Reed at first base. They do have plans to also try out Daniel Murphy at the position

That news is pretty much expected. But it still blows. I'm not counting on Delgado recovering as fast as A-Rod or Gordon either. Beltran, Wright & Reyes should be able to carry the offense for most of the summer. I'm more worried about the rotation now that 40% of the games are being started by Livan and Redding. Yikes.

again, glad to get it done asap. let him be healthy for the stretch run. tatis can fill in adequately at first, honestly i'd like to see murphy give it a couple tries too.

like whit said, reyes beltran wright is enough to carry the offense, hell they were doing it last year till delgado finally figured it out. that took half the season, and this time church, shef, and murphy are in the lineup. castro is catching every day. they arent great but they are at least average which is good enough when you consider how good the top 3 are

at this point it seems to just be about luck with him. lets hope that leg is the reason hes had a dip in velocity, and not that theres a more serious injury to his arm

Totally agree. Let's upgrade the rotation, and live without Delgado till August.

Despite his recent slump, I am still very high on Murphy and I'd like to see him get significant time at first. Let's use this as an opportunity to find out whether can play that position.

I was going to suggest Nick Evans as a replacement at 1B, but I got a look at his .093 BA at Buffalo (and the rest of the Bisons' paltry stats) and now feel like a lot of you that they should ride it out with what they got for a while.

I'm surprised all of you can think this offense can survive any real time missing Delgado. The team did fine last year until Delgados hot streak? They were playing awful below .500 ball and a manager got fired. I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.

manuel is beyond teh suck

the pagan ph appearance is a ****ing joke

his answer was a ****ing joke

he overmanages worse than my old boss when i worked at Target, which at the time i thought was impossible

I dont know what we should do. It will be hard to get a pitcher and a hitter, i think i prefer a real starter and bring up FMART.

murphy finally started playing an almost adequate LF and then we bench him 4 days a week. i mean, we all agree he can hit, its the fielding that worries us. But we pinch hit for him with a guy with a lifetime .258/.314/.404 line. and the reason is "murphy is teh suck because he doesnt play enough"

i am speechless

hope we win tonight, havent even turned it on yet

i agree with this. i don't see how this team's not in trouble. they can't afford to lose that bat.

their starting rotation is in shambles right now. tim redding has been a joke for a long time. same with livan hernandez. we know what pelfrey can do, but he's been horrific so far, too. and maine is a weak two.

beltran and wright are elite mlb players, but they can only stay as hot as they are right now for so long.
