Catched up on last few losses. Duda for that absurd steal of home allowed ala 2015 WS, Montero and Millone for obv reasons. Any thoughts on tonight. It's very difficult to choose between Salas, Ramirez, and Smoker

And this game is exhibit A as to why the concept of a closer is idiotic. The high pressure moment of the game was Wil Myers with the bases loaded, and instead of having someone remotely competent in the game -- let alone your supposed best reliever in Addison Reed -- we are looking at a guy with a 10 ERA who has been waived 27 times in the last two seasons. Brilliant.
But at least we have Reed to pitch the 9th and keep it close!
Would be upset if I didn't stop giving a **** when they were swept by Arizona. That was pretty embarrassing though. Heard TC was given the gag order on injuries. Maybe he can't talk about the buttpen anymore either.
The Collins criticism is generally ridiculous to me... but last game was horrendous. One of the worst I've seen by him. Reynolds PRing for Duda instead of batting for Granderson is just bananas.
We all knew there was one out in the 9th though as soon as Granderson was announced as the batter. They played the infield in with the bases loaded and 0 out, risking the whole game on a bloop. That's how little they respected him.
Been listening to Francesa (I know) today absolve Collins of all bullpen woes because of who the pitchers are, not his use of them. Rather clear their personal relationship is a reason for his soft punches. But at some point, despite all the injuries and excuses, new blood is needed.
- the criticism of Terry Collins this year generally has been unwarranted, but last night was an absolute abortion, from taking Jizzleman out to taking Salas out in place of Ramirez; even if Salas walks Wil Myers too you still have the lead
- the mere notion that he should have pinch hit for Curtis Granderson is LOL ridiculous. That at bat is on Granderson and nobody else.
The argument isn't that Granderson has or hasn't been terrible, it's that hitting Matt Reynolds or Kevin Plawecki for him there would be terrible. If you had a halfway decent pinch hitter on the bench, that would be another thing. I would not even have Granderson in the lineup tonight, or any longer on a regular basis, even with Cespedes still out, and I am disappointed to see him in the lineup tonight. I would rather see Lagares in center right now.
I've always wanted lagares to play regularly. He's not the best on offense but is aggressive and a good bad ball hitter (gotta love those). And of course he's top 5 on defense.
Pretty much only have games on as background noise now, so I'll know when Terry's post-game press conference is going to be. The eventual meltdown and tirade is really the only thing to look forward to at this point.
.... and then literally everyone else in entire pitching staff is ****ing terrible. This isn't even an exag
The offense isn't even that bad this year too but you can't win with this garbage pitching even if you lead in runs. Somehow I think the Nationals have a higher bullpen ERA but you can't even just go by that. Bullpens are now 7-8 people.... if the bottom 3 all pitch like Neil Ramirez and your top 3-4 are reliable you can still hold a 1 run game.
But with the Mets... they're all untrustworthy except the lefty specialist. Most teams at least have 3 reliable pitchers to go 7-8-9 with.... with the Mets is ..
w/ Jerry Blevins available to bail one of the inevitable failures out, and then Josh Edgin to give up one of all the inherited runners of the other one. It's just unwatchable.
