they should just put him on the DL. if he pitches well he comes off, if he dosnt he stays on it.

like what the yankees are doing with wang.

ya but they havnt investigated if hes actually injured yet

hopefully they do that soon.

or maybe by some random stroke of luck he ends up having some revelation in the bullpen

you don't have to be actually injured to go on the DL. they could just make up an injury and send him on a "rehab" assignment.

mlb.com (Murray Chass) has a report that Perez may be headed to the DL.

Wynton -- if he hasn't really agreed to be sent down, then I think the team would announce that.

Oliver Perez is a dick.

Quote:
Perez's status is up in the air now that he is apparently balking at a trip to the minor leagues, though all signs point to him being moved to the bullpen, the NY Post's Mets blog reports. Perez must give his consent to a minor-league assignment because he has more than five years of major-league service time and he appeared to willing to do so after Saturday's horrible start. However, he backtracked Sunday morning saying his comments the night before were made out of frustration. Perez also could go on the DL after suddenly announcing Sunday that he is bothered by a sore right knee that he aggravated during Saturday's game. A move to the disabled list could also cushion the blow of a return to the minors by sending him there officially for rehab starts instead of performance-related issues and would allow the Mets to slide Ken Takahashi in his rotation slot.

Ugh, swallow your pride and go back down. The pen isn't the place to work out the kinks. I don't know if it's lack of conditioning, the WBC, or whatever, but go away for now.

What a head case.

Oliver Perez -- $12 million a year. Orlando Hudson too expensive.

Quote:
Orlando Hudson reached base three times and drove in three runs as the Dodgers beat the Padres 7-3 on Sunday. Hudson doubled twice and walked once while scoring once in the contest. He's batting .336 with an NL-leading 36 hits and has been a major reason why the Dodgers are off to a scorching 18-8 start.
Give me a boat, put Omar and Glen Sather on it, and ship it out to where pirates can take them hostage.

Good luck with that.
Both seem to have immunity.

Hello fellow Mets fantics,

A month into this season, this team seems to have several different problems that need to get addressed.

I seriously hope that this offseason the Wilpon's realize Omar is not the right man for the job and the team needs to go in a different direction.

In the past it appeared the problem was our bullpen. Now the problems seem more wide scale. Our starting rotation is a source of concern as well as the set up men in our bullpen. Our outfield is a joke and we do not have limited right handed bats.

I have come to accept we have a team capable of getting between 80-90 wins that will have to fight just to get the wildcard.

I plan on enjoying the good times and lamenting the horrible times.

I don't share the same general disdain for Omar and/or Manuel that most of you seem to have.

While I disagree with many of their moves, I don't think we'd be complaining nearly as much if the starters were simply performing as they have historically. Derek Lowe at 4 years was hardly a no-brainer, imo. And there was little else available. Moreover, if you look back at preseason predictions, I bet you'd find that most people considered the starting rotation to be solid.

I agree with you on Derek Lowe, but that doesn't justify giving Oliver $12 million a year, and it doesn't justify severely underestimating (or overestimating) what the market for a guy like Hudson was. It doesn't justify the contract Castillo got. It doesn't justify his failure to improve the bullpen last year. It doesn't justify the black hole they have had at catcher. It doesn't justify the amateurish way he handled Willie's firing. Yada yada.

Omar has too many misses to go with his hits. My feeling is that if the Mets do not make the playoffs this year, Omar is gone.

From your lips to the Wilpon's ears.

I agree with you, if this team does not make the playoffs, Omar needs to go. He can take his coaching staff with him.

The entire organization needs to get gutted and we need to start over.
That includes firing Omar and the entire coaching staff.

Oh, I totally agree about Castillo, Hudson and probably most of the other mistakes: I just don't believe Omar deserves the blame for what is the main problem so far this year: starting pitching.

He built the team. He gets the blame.

This team has one quality starter Johan Santana. He could have solved that by signing Derek Lowe or Jon Garland instead of Oliver Perez.

I still shake my head at the Perez deal.

Random Thought/Question:

Is Bobby Parnell named after Pernell Roberts? Like did anyone here if he was intentionaly named 'Robert' because of that. Just something that came into my head in the shower?

You guys really need some SP, 1 man rotations don't tend to work too well.

Do you think any of these guys even knows who Pernell Roberts is?

I mean seriously, does anyone know Bonanza or Trapper John MD?

I don't think Omar should be fired. The Mets would hire some terrible person to replace him who would be even worse. Omar is a slightly above average GM, who hasn't made any absolutely awful trades like every other GM in Mets history. He gets a pass for at least another year from me because of how he played the Santana situation, the fact that he passed on Zito, and because of how he has rebuilt the farm system.

Was Zambrano for Kazmir Phillips or Omar's doing?
