The Mets do not have a starting pitcher who would qualify as the #1 or even #2 guy on any of the other playoff hopeful teams in the NL this year. I might even say #3.
That said, their offense is on par or maybe even better than any other team in the NL East at least (wouldn't compare them to the top 3 in the NL Central). And the bullpen has been much better than I would have ever expected them to be after the first few weeks.
This might be enough to keep them in the middle of the pack in the NL, but when Chris Capuano has been your best starter this year and his ERA is 5 and when the team combined starting pitching WAR is worse than any of the Phillies or Braves starters individually, there is no defending this bunch.
I also believe that if the Mets traded Beltran, Reyes, and K-Rod they could be right there with the Astros as worst team in the league. Doesn't mean they shouldn't, just means that's what I'd expect.
