that's an excellent half-season. even if you take out the seattle game, that's 30 catches and 351 yards - not tremendous, but again, who's going to put up those kinds of numbers on this year's team?
I won't debate your opinion, best to do is see how things ultimately work out. But I would mention that a quick internet search has revealed several less-than-flattering recent comments about Hixon:
"Domenik Hixon had the yips against the Jets. He doesn't project into a consistent, legit NFL receiver." -- Adam Schein (who I can't stand and probably shouldn't cite in support of anything) on FoxSports.com
"
The Ultimatenyg says the Giants won’t roll the dice by starting Nicks and Manningham, but that they should, and that Manningham has been a revelation: Hixon and Smith will probably start and contribute, but these guys are like Buicks compared to Manningham the Sports Car." -- today on nytimes.com
"Maybe Domenik Hixon is showing us that what he really is is a third wide receiver who can be a useful part of the passing game, and a quality return man" -- bigblueview.com
So my read on this is not so nuts (and I posted that opinion before I had read anything anywhere about such an idea).
We'll see what happens. Like I said, I hope Hixon is WR of the year; but I don't see it.
