That trailer went from "Haha, this is gonna be a funny movie about all the mongoloids that call WFAN" to "Bizarre contrived drama, movie sucks" really fast.

Now I'm gonna LOL every time I hear an almost perfectly scripted rant on FAN because I'm going to think the guy wrote it out.

Heh, i thought the opposite, that the trailer went from some cliche comedy to a pretty interesting drama

The Sporting News have the Giants on the cover to win it all.

Get ready for tons of injuries and kiss away those Superbowl hopes.

Spoiler:
Seriously though, I hate this. I hate anytime 'my' team becomes the target. I much rather have that attitude of 2007-08 when they were consistently the underdog and then STOMPED YOU OUT

I think SI did this with the Mets and we see what happened to them this season.

We are fuxxxored imo

So Hakeem Nicks caught two touchdowns tonight. Is he the Real Deal Holyfield? Could he be a good fantasy player?

not when eli goes 9-21

I didn't think Eli was that bad. A lot of drops. I am more concerned with wideouts getting open than I am with drops. They did a good job getting open last night against what might be a decent secondary.

I bet by the end of the season Domenick Hixon is no better than 4th on the depth chart, behind Smith, Nicks, and Manningham.

After watching the Giants/Jets game, I am very concerned about our wide receivers. Each one dropped at least one pass that should have been an easy to standard catch. There were two drops that were just flat out unacceptable (the bomb to Smith and the sideline drop by Manningham [or was it Nicks?]). The defense looked better than last week (thank god), but there are still some holes we need to fix.

Who cares about dropped passes. They are human errors, not mental errors.

man i am willing to bet a lot against this. hixon is very good. FO has him projected for 80 catches and 1000 yards, which is probably ridiculous, but he'll still lead the giants in receiving yards if he doesn't get hurt

Let's not get our panties in a bunch about Hixon. He was cut by the Bills (right? the Bills?). He impressed the Giants as a special teamer and played well in limited action as a WR. When given more time on Plaxico's oopsie, he wasn't nearly as good. And in my opinion, he's not that good/the other guys are better, and will rightly find himself in a role that is more appropriate for him by the second half of the season. Hey, I hope I am wrong and the guy goes nuts, but I don't see it.

he was cut by the broncos.

also, this just isn't true. hixon played 8 games without plaxico, here's his numbers:

34 catches, 453 yards.

that's an excellent half-season. even if you take out the seattle game, that's 30 catches and 351 yards - not tremendous, but again, who's going to put up those kinds of numbers on this year's team?

I wasn't always convinced on Nicks being a #1. I knew he had great hands. But I thought he might not have the strength to break the jam on physical corners and wouldn't have the speed to burn fast corners. But he has looked pretty good from what I have seen. I projected him at best a #2 WR in the NFL. Hopefully, I'm wrong and he does get to become a #1 type receiver in the mold of somebody like Hines Ward or something like that.

with the lack of a true #1 id love to see the giants try to spread the field more often this year, with lots of 3 wide 1 te and 4 wr sets, while still calling plenty of run plays out of these formations. the OL is obviously good enough that they dont need to run out of the I-form/dual TE sets/big formations all the time.

eli played much better than his 9/21. plus its the preseason. really shouldnt be taking too much from it

I won't debate your opinion, best to do is see how things ultimately work out. But I would mention that a quick internet search has revealed several less-than-flattering recent comments about Hixon:

"Domenik Hixon had the yips against the Jets. He doesn't project into a consistent, legit NFL receiver." -- Adam Schein (who I can't stand and probably shouldn't cite in support of anything) on FoxSports.com

"The Ultimatenyg says the Giants won’t roll the dice by starting Nicks and Manningham, but that they should, and that Manningham has been a revelation: Hixon and Smith will probably start and contribute, but these guys are like Buicks compared to Manningham the Sports Car." -- today on nytimes.com

"Maybe Domenik Hixon is showing us that what he really is is a third wide receiver who can be a useful part of the passing game, and a quality return man" -- bigblueview.com

So my read on this is not so nuts (and I posted that opinion before I had read anything anywhere about such an idea).

We'll see what happens. Like I said, I hope Hixon is WR of the year; but I don't see it.

that's all fair, but i'm skeptical about manningham, who showed nothing to get on the field last year, and i didn't see anything out of him so far in preseason to suggest he's great (admittedly i missed most of last game and haven't watched the other two particularly close). i hope he does. hixon had a pretty solid half-season though, so we'll see.

I was confused by Manningham's inability to get on the field last year and chalked it up to whatever his injury or other pre-season difficulties were (I don't recall). He looked pretty good last week against the Jets and looks like a player, even with the drop. Obviously we'll see better when these guys play against first teamers.

I am very optimistic about the WR group as a whole, which was one of my concerns heading into camp. The secondary concerns me and the LBs concern me. If Boley can get on the field quickly and Pierce is OK, the LB concern should go away.

why would we want to spread our offense out in order to make up for our deficiency in an area. We should keep doing what we excel and run the ball down everyone's throats. just because the line can handle it without the tight sets, doesn't mean we should handicap them.

I think when we do have to run the 2 min drill, we can spread it out and be effective, but not as a gameplan. As far as the receivers, I think we have 4 2nd receivers right now, which overall is good, but we do need someone to step up to be number 1. some ESPN guy still thinks smith will be the goto, but I think Nicks is the real deal, tho maybe not till the second half of the year or even next year.

fwiw, I haven't seen the jets game yet (not on TV in VA) its on NFL network tonight, so i'll check out eli and report back, i just hate seeing that 9-21 stat.
