Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

another ring will provide the perfect analogue for this Pats run: a 6th ring is completely unnecessary for the Pats dynasty place in history to be secure - it's just running up the score, like so many have accused the Pats of over the years.

you want running up the score? a 6th SB for BB / Brady is running up the score. it's Matt Cassell running for a TD to make the score 52-0, or a Doug Flutie dropkick just for the lols. The 5th ring "won them the game" (most succesful run ever), the 6th is unneeded but amazing

From another room, I heard Al Michaels call, ''...wiiiide open, Amendola! Touchdown!'', and knew immediately that someone in another room was watching my favorite play ever.

Such a great play, and per usual executed to perfection. Edelman perfect pass.

I feel like such a casual but I don't recognize the call. Which play?

Two things about that play:

1. Peter King, who was in Gillette for the game said it was the only time he ever felt the stadium shake.

2. At some later date (and I'm fuzzy on the details) Edelman said that McDaniel sent in the play late in the KC game when they were getting blown out and he (or Amendola) convinced Brady to audible out of it, so they wouldn't show it in a meaningless situation.

Pretty cool. And surprising that for a play like that that they would ever use it in a meaningless spot like the KC game. I remember exactly where I was watching that play occur, def a memorable moment.

So excited for this season, just wish football season would hurry up and get here.

I believe this is from the "Do Your Job" documentary. McDaniels was explaining how they called the play in the KC game but Amendola recognized the coverage wasn't what they wanted so he called off the double pass and Brady went to LaFell on the right side somewhere for a short gain. McDaniels said that if they had run the double pass there, he thinks it might not have worked against BAL because they would have had film on the execution.

LaFell broke it for a (meaningless) TD IIRC. But yeah, pretty awesome that Belichick trusts his players to make those adjustments.

If Baltimore had covered it properly live, Edelman probably would have just run it behind Gronk blocking.

Also, I love that they had both a play with Hoomanawanui lined up as an eligible tackle and a play with him as an ineligible slot man and called them 'Baltimore' and 'Raven' for maximum confusion.
