Breer reported today that Pats were flat out telling teams Jimmy G. was not available for trade. jives with what Shefter was saying

It's so stupid. Like I see guys get obvious concussions every week and not miss time. But let's make a big deal about what a player's spouse said?

Not just any player though, everyone's favorite controversial QB, Tom Brady. And that means the Patriots didn't report his injury, which would be rule violation #5891 for them. CHEATERS!

Giselle: "Tom I can't believe you forgot our anniversary!"
Tom: "Oh... uh... I must have a concussion. Yeah that's it, a concussion!"

Guy told me a story today: he bet his friend $100 on the SB.

At 28-3, he offered $90 to buy out. Friend refused, wanted the whole $100.

he should have just prepaid him (but under the condition if the Pats come back, prepayment comes back obv.)

dirtiest trick in the gambling book for when you're losing. it doesn't cost you anything BUT if your team makes a huge comeback it's doubly satisfying for you and doubly crushing for your counter party

I actually did that to my buddy for a SB this year.

David Harris signing. nice little LB depth play. This is what PFF said about him a couple weeks ago

Quote:
- The New York Jets released LB David Harris on Tuesday. He was the longest tenured member of the team.

- Harris earned a 77.6 PFF overall grade in 2016 which ranked 35th out of 87 qualifying linebackers. Harris was much better in 2016 than his likely replacements Darron Lee and Demario Davis who earned 38.3 and 58.4 grades, respectively

- Harris led the Jets in run stop percentage with a 6.1 stop percentage, though newcomer Davis was better in 2016 with a 7.4 stop percentage.
He will be missed in coverage where Davis allowed one reception per 11.1 snaps in coverage compared to Lee’s one reception per 7.2 snaps in coverage.

- Harris was the Jets most reliable tackler, missing a tackle once every 15.5 tackle attempts, better Davis, who missed a tackle once every 10.3 attempts
not a stud but should be someone who makes the team and gets in the mix to spell the other guys. and provide insurance for Hightower. LB and OL were probably the 2 thinnest positions on the roster, this does a lot to solve the first one.

offensively certainly they seem very deep at RB, TE, WR, and even QB.
defensively CB and SS are both fine, DL will be good if we drafted ok.

deepest Pats team I can remember in a long time

Or, what Mike Reiss said:

Quote:
Did the Patriots need David Harris? Probably not. Will they take him? Absolutely

Agree, his best days are behind him but could still be a valuable contributor at a thin position on the cheap. Not necessarily an impact signing but seems like a really solid value.

This team is so absurdly stacked that even a moderate signing like this just adds to the hype... Kinda keep expecting for something to go against us and yet we improve with every transaction.

So I got this t-shirt. This is the front:

The back is the same thing, only the final score.

I don't live anywhere near New England.

Almost every time I wear it out of the house, people want to talk me up about it...AND IT'S ALL POSITIVE! No hate, no jealousy, no cheating/conspiracy theories--just admiration and respect.

Pretty much the opposite of when I just wear a normal jersey.

I had to travel for business to Philly area recently, and was pretty surprised at how positive the people were about the Pats. Not that they liked them, but just begrudging respect that Brady and BB are the greatest.

Yes they can. Coughlin (maybe the best big-game underdog coach ever) isn't the coach any more.

The Giants thing was a thing when Pats hadnt won in a like a decade and there was some concern if the Brady/BB combo would get another one. After getting 2 of the last 3 and in the fashion they did it the Giants dont even register anymore.

I'm OK with 5-2, with the 2 swinging on lucky /fluke plays. So what if they were both to the giants. Try harder next time

You go to SEVEN Super Bowls, you're gonna lose one or two. A 5-2 record is great in the regular season, against average slubs--let alone against Conference Champions.

(It's still funny to see how defensively we react to things like this.)

The only thing that bothers me now about the Giants SB's is my brother and dad were at both - the only two of the Pats SB's that they've attended. Really wanted my dad to get to see a Pats championship in person.

(And yes, they're not allowed to attend any more.)

The perfect season will always sting for us all, but they definitely made up for all that. That 10+ year championship gap really was an issue, Brady needed at least another to solidify his accomplishments, as unfair as it is. We could only bask so long in their greatness without a ring to show for the "new" Brady and BB combo. The last one was just gravy, and I hope Brady feels a cool comfort wrt his legacy now. I'm sure I would.

Also, if Brady's not crying about those Giants losses, neither should we.

another ring will provide the perfect analogue for this Pats run: a 6th ring is completely unnecessary for the Pats dynasty place in history to be secure - it's just running up the score, like so many have accused the Pats of over the years.

you want running up the score? a 6th SB for BB / Brady is running up the score. it's Matt Cassell running for a TD to make the score 52-0, or a Doug Flutie dropkick just for the lols. The 5th ring "won them the game" (most succesful run ever), the 6th is unneeded but amazing
