I've been cheering for Brady all along. Helps that he went to the NFC.

The situation not quite like Ray Borque but it's the same feeling; go Bucs.

Been rooting for Brady. Every game.

Only exception will be when he comes to Foxboro next season. Even then, I’d rather the Pats win 41-38 than 13-10.

I’ve always been on the Brady >>> Belichick team. And am still bitter at how it ended—this TB success could be happening in NE right now.

While it's hard to overstate the value of the QB position, I'm squarely in the TB=BB part of the discussion. No matter how well the other 53 on the roster contribute, you need the top level QB to succeed consistently. OTOH, if the rest of the team isn't consistently good in all 3 phases, it becomes very difficult to keep the elite QB from chasing the money elsewhere (even if that QB's spouse makes more money than any NFL QB).

Sure, BB doesn't go to 9 SBs without TB12, but neither do the Pats without BB, as I doubt Brady stays as long with the team with any other coach/system.

I’m not trying to take away how good a coach Belichick is, he’s obv an all time great.

That said, the guys has had 8 full seasons without Brady, is well under .500 and has made the playoffs once.

Now that we're back to being normal NFL fans, the discussions need to resume. After all, I'm old enough to remember when the Pats usually sucked.

Questions:

Gilmore, stay or go?

Cam, stay or go? (Was Bill just pumping his tires to help him land somewhere or is he here next year?)

Regardless what's going happen for 2021?

Rumors say SF wants out of Jimmy G, is he an option if the price is right?

I'm not a big on draft knowledge, but if Stidham's not the answer, do they draft a QB and keep Cam or bring in another NFL vet (Fitzmagic? Jameis?)

Let's go! We're still fans.
Hindsight is 20/20 but I'm struggling to see what the point of trying to compete this year was? Cam's ceiling was what, 10 wins at best and a 1st rd exit on the road? I guess you don't know if Buffalo is going to maintain after last year but if this year was spent on trying to develop a Qb out of the draft or flipping Gilmore for a 1st when his value was high then they would likely be ahead of the curve right now. As it stands, they basically wasted a year and got nothing done as far as player development or an eye towards the future goes.

I could see next year going a lot better just because the schedule is a little easier and BB probably will push to win with the cap room rather than get humiliated again but like you said, just another NFL team now.

Hightower opting out was a big blow to the D after losing the rest of the starting LBs to free agency. Losing an elite playmaker like Hightower is a killer.

The entire staring O-line was out for the last couple of games. Cam actually looked like he was improving in going through his progressions by game 12, but then had no time to throw for the balance of the season.

On the plus side, Phillips was a reasonable replacement for Chung (who may be at the end of his career anyway) and Duggar improved steadily and has a chance in the next year or two to be considered a great BB steal in the draft.

They have to draft d-backs. JC Jackson is good, but we have no idea if either McCourty will be back, and we have to think Gilmore is gone.

There should be veteran WRs available, since we can't expect them to draft any better at that positions (WTF did the scouts see that made them think Harry was a better pick than Metcalf or Godwin???)

AJ Brown was the most egregious player they passed on when drafting Harry imo.

Godwin was drafted 2 years earlier in the 3rd round the pick after Derek Rivers who went 83rd - but yes, him or Golloday who went 13 picks later would have been nice in that spot obviously. Or both, since they took Antonio Garcia 85, the pick before Kareem Hunt & 5 picks before Shaquill Griffin.

Yeah, I confused Brown with Godwin.

Are you counting BB's time with the Browns? 1 playoff win is their equivalent of a Superbowl.

Maybe today. But the browns were actually a good team in the late 80s.

Top FA WR's are Golladay, A Rob, Godwin....Golladay and Godwin I'd expect to be tagged/re-signed. A Rob is interesting but as we know with FA, you basically have to pay top dollar. I'd think he would want to go to a team with a "good" QB since he's had horrible to mediocre QB's going back to college.

JuJu, Corey Davis, Will Fuller next 3....All of these guys are going to get paid, WR's like Cooks/Watkins broke the bank when hitting FA. Even Adam Humphries got paid by the Titans and I don't really see any WR's wanting to take a discount to play with Cam so it will be interesting to see what they do here. Gotta think they try to get atleast 1 WR in FA. Maybe JuJu as he was considered an elite WR just a few years ago and is still pretty young.

Hunter Henry is clearly the #1 TE, likely won't be tagged again and is a BB fav. Could see them going for him but again, you're gonna have to pay top TE $ for a guy that isnt an elite player and has had troube staying healthy.

I think the #1 question before you can proceed with most of this is what happens at QB? I'm not the biggest fan of Cam but atleast his running/ball control style fits their OL's elite run blocking. Cam was so bad this year that you can probably pay him like 5M whereas even a Fitzpatrick/Bridgewater type is going to cost 15-20m.

Maybe they get someone like Lance in the draft but I really don't know if I see BB/Kraft wanting to be as patient and long-term focused after a 7-9 season. That is easy to do when Brady is carrying you to 12 wins in his sleep every year. I think they're somewhat embarrassed by how all of this has turned out and will want to push for the playoffs next season.

(I don't see Caserio trading Watson to them 1. they don't have the trade assets others do 2. that is pretty bad optics since he just came to NE. Doubt he DGAF like when McHale gave the Celts KG)

I was definitely rooting for Brady tonight.

I don't want to see any young QB build a legacy to challenge Brady's. I'm hoping Patrick Mahomes' career path follows Russell Wilson's.

This makes three times Brady has beaten a dynasty in the making.

SB XXXVI Rams "greatest Show on Turf" fell apart after the loss.

SB XLIX Seahawks "Legion of Boom" didn't fall apart but has not returned to the big game since

SB LV Mahomes/Chiefs coronation denied. We'll see how they respond.

So Brady has more rangs than the Patriots franchise, but fewer than Bill Belichek.

Has anyone estimated the expected year n when no person will have more rings than the franchise they worked for? Maybe the NFL won't even last that long.

Mahomes had a shot if he won but it just kinda seems impossible now. The best QB's are dual threat now so their shelf lives probably won't be as long, not to mention there are more good QB's now imo. Even something like the 2 seed having to play in the wildcard rd is likely a big dent to a future GOAT's domination equity.

Also, who the **** is gonna wanna play until 40-45 in this new generation? Unless you spend money like Antoine Walker, you're gonna be close to a billionaire by then lol

Anybody watching the preseason games?

I'd be shocked if Mac Jones isn't starting by midseason, he actually does things like look at multiple options downfield and throw the ball to the correct shoulder
