A win is a win. Denver is still roaming so the Pats have lots to play for.

DEN is pron gonna win and we'll have to go crazy on BUF

Even if Denver loses Monday BB is not going to rest starters against the Bills....at least not until late in the game.

well - they simply don't have backups for every position. but if CIN wins tomorrow night I would expect light workloads for some guys.

Was at game today, prob 30-35% Pats fans. Way to represent!!

Game was awful, O-line got @$$ handed to them and pass rush sucked. A win is a win, but gotta get it together for the playoffs. At least home field is all but assured.

Btw Jets fans are the lowest, saddest, whiniest, most pathetic fan base in sports. So great to see their faces when they lost their "Super Bowl."

Ugly game.

I came here to see Salva's reaction. It was....rational.

I'm disappointed.

let's hope Oline was variance today. b/c...ugh.

I want to panic but for someone reason I'm never surprised when the NYJ play us close. even at home this year, we barely beat them, they can just be a tough matchup sometimes...but not others. shrug.

In the "glass half full" department....

4 games in a row with no TDs against in the 2nd half.

For whatever reason, the Jets usually play their 2 best games of the season vs. the Pats.

On to Buffalo.

Yeah no reason to panic given the spot the team is in now, but that OL needs to play a lot better against Denver or Seattle come playoff time. No Connolly hurt and no Edelman hurt, but man they looked bad. Vereen seems to be outside the circle of trust.

Could really use a Bengal win to rest the banged up guys. Also a minor break in that the Bills have nothing to play for.

in the last 4 games vs the NYJ, we've outscored them by a total of 3 points.

1 point win
2 point win
3 point win
3 point loss

did love to see Amendola come though. the possibility of lining up

Edelman
Gronk
Lafell
Amendola

could end up being a key combo.

If it's any consolation, on 12/2/2001, the Pats beat the Jets 17-16 on their way to their first Lombardi Trophy.

Was thinking of that yesterday, was one of the more improbable wins of the BB era. I remember finding my inner Goodie after that one and running scenarios for how the Pats could end up with a bye.

FWIW, I think repeatedly beating the Jets in close games a way more enjoyable than blowing them out. Tortures their fans much more.

I think they need to realize that now that coach Scar is gone, they can't get away with signing free agent O-line stiffs and turning them into decent pros. Kline and Deveny(?) are HORRIBLE. Shouldn't even be in the pros. And why can't Tim Wright get more than .5 targets per game? Brady seems to be regressing to tunneling one receiver vs finding the open guy.

oh, and I'm deathly afraid of the seahawks, please please let Wilson get a high ankle sprain for Christmas.

Had to watch at a bar with no sound. What happened with that measurement that Rex challenged? It looked to me like they stretched out the chains, planted the stick, and we were an inch or two from a first down, bringing up an interesting 4th-and-inches at midfield. Guy on the next barstool (who was a total idiot, btw**) also thought it was short. While we debated punt vs go for it, the Pats lined up for a 1st and ten play, and Rex threw the flag.

As an aside, I thought we got a generous spot on that play, too. But never in my life have I ever seen a team given a first down when we all saw the measurement look well short. Deceiving camera angle?

** = This guy acheived Idiot status when he fretted over the Vikings' decision to kick a FG on 3rd down with :06 remaining in the half, forcing them to kick off with :02 remaining.

HIM: They should've ran one more play! They should've ran one more play! Now they have to risk allowing a TD return! Now they have to risk allowing a TD return!

ME: Calm down, you're worried about nothing. What percentage of kickoffs are run back all the way, one out of 1000?

HIM: I'd say 10-15%.

I couldn't convince him how silly that was until I finally googled it (actual answer: about 1 in 200 over the past three years). So I realize that offering him up as a witness to corroborate my view of the measurement is incredibly mitigated. Nor did I even mention the other flaw in his "one more play" stance: Vikes were out of time outs, and "one more play" could have been a disastrous "no points right before halftime".

They showed the First Down signal given after the challenge. The ref waited a long time before giving it and the announcers missed the signal.

FWIW, I thought they were short on the measurement AND got a generous spot as well.

Kickoff angle is stupid, but kicking with six seconds left on third down is stupidly conservative as well. Just run a one read fade pattern if you are that worried about the clock running out. Pick numbers for chances of a TD vs. chances of ending the half inbounds vs. chances of a successful field goal and it becomes pretty clear that kicking is burning points.

Was a terrible challenge though, that spot is never getting moved back a foot.

Looking back I wonder if Rex didn't like the defense they had called for the Pats' personnel, wanted to call time out and just decided "WTF, maybe if i challenge we'll get lucky."

I'm of 4 minds on the Rex challenge on the Amendola spot

1) it's a huge call, big difference between 1st down and 4th especially with the Jets D so even if you're likely to lose there it's worth it. high leverage play = it's ok if you are somewhat likely to lose

2) but c'mon those spots NEVER get reversed

3) even if you win the challenge and it goes to 4th and inches, Pats probably go for it and make it.

4) losing a TO there is huge

so...I dunno. feels close.

If you saw the play BEFORE the FG (this close to a half-ending, jailbreak sack), you'd jump at the chance to take the three points there and add to your halftime lead on the road.

thank you Bengals.

2010 we had clinched #1 ahead of the last week - we ran 45 times and Hoyer got significant PT. though Brady was still playing in the 3rd which brought much fear and loathing

expect something similar this time.
