Wiggins was playing great on both sides of the ball for a stretch but the last 10 games or so he's been hot garbage. He's just maddingly inconsistent. At times he played really, really good defense (for like 30 games!), and he improved his outside shooting and ball handling and imo is a legit good passer. On the debit side: he goes to the rim much less this year settling for midrange pullups that he isn't good at, he seems to be perfectly willing to mail in games (like now), he still has bad hands, he only tries on the D glass in certain games, and he can't shoot off screens so everything breaks down into an iso or p&r making him a massive ball stopper.

I'm fairly comfortable saying Wiggins will never be that #1 pick superstar everyone hoped for when he was drafted but he's certainly a starter on a championship contending team, imo.

I posted this yesterday on another board. He's improved on nothing.

The only argument on your side is about the future because Rubio is just a much better player than Wiggins right now

in my eyes wiggins has improved this year. league avergae ts% on his usage is a impressive building block in my eyes.
Wiggins is 2% under league average TS% which is a problem even with his volume, League average plus volume is fine as it gives you a kind of base load of offense that others can add to. Being below average plus volume just means you are digging a hole that others have to get the team out of.

Agreed, there are issues. But it's incorrect to say he's improved on nothing, he's been a much better 3pt shooter this year. His shot selection on 2s has been worse, so it hasn't registered in his TS%, but he's been better. That opens up a new component to his game.

I have nothing to add on everything else, but if you put his FT% down to 83% (Career average taking this year into account), then his TS% drops to .537 which is still a career high.

His rise in TS is mainly due to shooting 5% higher from 2 than any other year in his career at 45% this year...likely mostly due to his midrange

16' to 3pt line by year
11-12 - 35.2%
12-13 - 35.5%
13-14 - 30.8%
14-15 - 40.4%
15-16 - 38.6%
16-17 - 43.9%

And with it being an even year next season Rubio is going to hit more of his 3's so if he can repeat everything else he will be on for a pretty efficient year

Who do you guys want the Twolves to draft (if they bink a top pick And if they pick 6th-7th)?

yeah, I agree on the logo and the season. It was great to see Towns put up huge numbers, but his defensive effort and awareness is terrible. I think most of his defensive problem is awareness.

Wiggins made minimal improvement offensively and his defensive effort and awareness is worse than Towns. He looks like he just doesnt care most of the time. His worst defensive problem is effort and he makes a lot of bad decisions offensively.

I saw a couple proposed trades that would be awesome, but I doubt the other teams would do them:
Wiggins straight up for J Butler
Lavine and Dunn for P George

A lot of the people who's opinions I respect at Canis seem to want SF J Isaac from Florida State if we dont move up and J Jackson, SF Kansas if we bink a top 3 pick.

Why is the A in "Minnesota" just an upside down V? I liked the old one better.

Towns this season:

Youngest player ever with 2000 pts & 1000 rebounds in the same season

Only player in NBA history with 2000 pts, 1000 rebounds and 100 3 pointers in the same season.

Per Canishoopus, if the Wolves had won games with 10 point leads at a league average clip they would have finished 48-32.

Anybody have thoughts on draft guys?

Gotta figure our awful defense played a role in that.

yeah, it was the main reason.

Draft: I've been reading stuff that has me convinced we should ignore need based picking and draft whoever we think is going to be the best player, regardless of position. I guess unless it would be a C, but in this draft there arent any Cs who would be BPA when we draft anyway.

Draftexpress has us taking Markkanen with #6. The Canis people think Thibs wont do this and they are not high on this guy, as he looks to be mostly just a shooter and not much else. They still like Isaac because he looks like he has potential to be an elite defender at 3/4. That sounds fine to me.

If we get in the top 3, based on what I've read and seen so far, I'd probably go with the order they have at DX: 1. Fultz, 2. Ball, 3. Jackson, but I might change my mind later & take Jackson at 2 because Ball might turn out to be a knucklehead.
