...why would we want a post-prime vet in FA?

Millsap is still playing at a very high level and plays a position of need. He would instantly make us a playoff team (assuming no major injuries) if we do nothing else. I'd love to see us get him, and it might be possible.

Igudala would give us a veteran defensive presence that we severely lack right now. And he is still good. We apparently have shown interest in him and I heard he will probably go where the most money is.

I will miss PEK.

I know we needed to get him off the books and that will help the team, but this guy was a beast when he was healthy, and he is a great character too.

Mill sap will prob require 4 years and he's too old for that imo

There are a lot of pluses and minuses with him. This discusses a lot of it: https://www.canishoopus.com/2017/6/1...a-timberwolves

I would like to see him in a Wolves uniform next season. Not only is he very good, he could be a positive influence on the young guys. You are correct that it would be risky because of his age and cost though.

Sounds like the Spurs are shopping Aldridge for a high draft pick. Hes got 2 years left on his contract (contract would be up for Towns to resign) and I think hed be a good fit (stretch 4) for the Wolves.

With the numbers I've heard for Iguodala and Millsap, both are a hard pass for me.

So what's a reasonable price for LMA?

#7 plus ???

I assume Wiggins or Lavigne. Is that enough? Seems like too much imo

I would not trade 7 for Aldridge - gut feeling.

Both would be expensive, no doubt, but any good veteran upgrade will be expensive.

We're going to have to resign KAT and some combo of LaVine/Wiggins/Dieng/etc. Why would I rather be paying an old washed up vet in 3 years instead of them?

It's mind boggling that no one wants the learn from the mistakes of others. The Lakers just had to give up DAR in part because of the insane Mozgov contract. Joakim Noah will haunt the Knicks. The Deng deal is toxic.

A one or two year deal is fine, but these guys don't want that. Trading for an LMA rental? Seriously? To what ****ing end?

On the other hand, LaVine and the 7 and whatever for Jimmy Butler would be absolutely pleasegodyes.

Maybe I am dreaming, but we can go over the cap to keep our own guys. I'm not looking at signing Millsap or Iggy as an either one of them or one of the young guys.

Mozgov sucks. Noah hadnt had not been healthy and had a good season in a while. Deng's production was slipping. Millsap and Iggy are not those guys. Yes, they are still gambles, but I think they are lower risk than the guys you mentioned and much higher upside.

LMA - I havent put a whole lot of thought into that yet, but I suspect that if he only has one year left, the steam from any trade talks would be coming out of SA on that deal.

yup. I'd gladly part with either Wiggins or Lavine and 7 for Butler. I think the odds of either of them ever being as good as or better than Butler is are remote.

KAT
Millsap
Butler
Wiggins or Lavine
Rubio

Dieng
Dunn
Jones
?
?

That team would win a LOT of games and probably be very competitive in the playoffs for at least a few years.

Wait, really? That is actually a really good trade. Jimmy isn't an old and is immediately their best player, depending on how Kat's d is next season. Everything coming up Thibs!

Damn we got legit championship caliber starting lineup. Not sure how the bench is gonna shakeup, but our starting 5 can compete with any team.

LOVE the trade obviously.

Bit worried about Rubio's value with Butler now. Think Rubio gets most his value with the ball, but Butler is going to be the ball dominant guard now so where is Rubio's value? I LOVELOVELOVE Ricky, but I just don't like the fit.

Also, I'll take Ibaka at a lower salary than Millsap. I think his spacing will be more important. Millsap is a beast, but since he started chucking 3s he has shot 36%/36%/32%/31%.

Trade Rubio for whatever we can get, sign George Hill and Ibaka with our 27 (I think?) mil cap (or 40m without Rubio) and spend the rest to beef up the bench.

Roll out Hill/Butler/Wiggins/Ibaka/KAT with a bench of Tyus/??maybeLivingston??/??Bjelica??/Dieng/Aldrich and whatever else?

Dieng has to be solid trade bait if Wolves sign someone like Ibaka or Millsap.

Regardless...TONS of options for the Wolves now, from signing one huge name with cap space to trading a bunch of people and signing a bunch more, to just signing 2 middling names for depth.

Such a great night!!!

Depending on how free agency shakes out, Ryan Anderson and Patrick Beverley could be a great fit with the Wolves if HOU dumps salary.

Assuming we let all our free agents walk, we're at $76M.

We need a sucker to take Cole. Blake Griffin would be a pretty dope get. Or Chris Paul.
