i think morgan is good. his 2009 year, basically the first year he got major playtime, he batted .300 and stole 40 bases.

as soon as he joined the brewers he was the best leadoff hitter they have.

Back to .500...what a homestand. Narveson is unbelievable. If he stays above average that goes a long way towards making this rotation amazing. Loved yesterday's game so much; so many people came through, even when Gallardo was off...also Tony Plush is incredible!! He's probably going to take Gomez's job when Hart gets back, right?

The way the announcers talk about Morgan, they act like he is there to mentor Gomez or something, which I think is complete garbage. This is a team that is built to win right now, and Morgan gives us the best chance to do so. I think Gomez should platoon and pinch-run (serious late game weapon in that regard, imo) but he should not be your every day CF when Hart gets back.

Well Gomez is a few years younger, but I can see using Morgan as our CF for the next 5 years or so and just dumping Gomez. Actually right now I kind of wish we could trade him back for JJ Hardy.

I mean, we can't possibly believe that Betancourt is going to pick things up, right? He played well during the homestand, but this guy's slash lines kill me - .271/.296/.392 ; that's okay if you can field, which Yuni can't...plus I never liked guys who walk like, twice a month

I think Yuni will hit better, but I hate him in the field. Although he made a few nice plays yesterday.

I would really like keeping Morgan in CF, I just dont have faith in Gomez. Gomez has such great potential if he could play smarter and actually listen to what people are trying to tell him to help his game. I actually don't know if I'd want JJ Hardy back. I wasn't a real big fan of him but he was a good defensive SS.

you guys have unrealistic goals for hitting from shortstops iyam.

I actually don't mind Betancourt, I think he's fine. I mean he could hit better but, eh, we are fine with how he is doing. It's not like were doomed if he continues this way, our offense is good if they can stay consistent and not hit 20 runs in one game then not be able to score in others like last year.

areaman; even for a SS, a .296 OBP is pretty low. but he is (or at least was, for the Royals) such a terrible defender that you have got to expect more from the guy

There we go Fielder. I find it funny that this is the first year that he hasn't sucked to start the season and its obv because its most likely his last year here

I wish I could get excited about Randy Wolf striking out 10 and not allowing a batter to advance past second but....sigh

It kinda felt like one of those Dave Bush outings...you remember those times when he struck out like 13 batters and then had a no-hitter in like the 7th or 8th? He would have a fluck game like once or twice a season.

You think Narveson will keep up his 0.00 era tonight?

I can't believe Gomez tied it up in the 9th...hopefully we can pull this out!

i was trying to say, brewers have always put up weird stats vs. the pirates

narv actually looked alright today minus the walks...all their hits were on ground balls IIRC

i guess the thing with yuni was inevitable...

btw why the hell is morgan not in the lineup?? he's way better than gomez and definitely better than almonte and kotsay...whats going on?

Yeah I don't understand that at all. I have no idea why Morgan wasn't starting but he better be in the lineup in the future. He's had an amazing start this year, no reason to bury him on the bench and waste it.

In case you haven't heard, he has a deep-thigh bruise.

barf. terrible weekend; Friday's game ended in such a dumb way, Betancourt and Fielder both made throws that were like 6-8 feet off target and practically gifted Werth the walkoff; then the bats go absolutely dead. now going to Philly...can only get better right?

Yeah I didn't know he had a deep-thigh bruise until after I posted, but what a terrible weekend. Brewers really need to get it together in a hurry since they're playing Philly now otherwise they will get swept by the Phillies too.

Lucky win tonight. Axford just doesn't seem to have it anymore. I've pretty much written tomorrow off as a loss already but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah it was a lucky win. Axford just seems off mechanically. He's definitely struggling to throw strikes. Hopefully he can pull it together otherwise this could be a long season.
