Good discussion on V&F this afternoon. Valenti thinks (or was arguing to rile up Michigan fans) that they should fully implement Borges's stuff this season, which would result in lower production for now, so that when Gardner and Morris take over down the road, the offense will be fully running.
I sort of agree. Michigan will only be so good with this crappy defense anyway, why not incorporate the complex pass patterns Borges likes to use? That way the underclassmen in the system will fully understand it in 2014 when Gardner takes over. You can still keep the zone read, but mix in more west coast stuff, Borges's specialty and the philosophy HE knows how to coach.

Not playing to win is so dumb I don't know what to say. I have little problems with working in West Coast elements, but the base of this offense should always be the ZR as long as Denard is QB.

I'm sure he was 100% behind the previous regime running the spread from the get go too.
RR running the spread right away is pretty different. If we had Mallet, then yeah, but ffs it was Sheridan and Threet out there. You don't build an offense around scrubs. You don't avoid an All-American's talents.

I'm not saying it's not different. I'm saying it's Valenti and it's how he says whatever he has to troll Michigan football.
I'm all for putting in a lot of WCO plus Denard running the ball. That's basically what we did against Western. Denard is pretty accurate on shorter passes, we can't have him just throwing jump balls all year long.
thats the play I was talking about earlier. that was a play the defense just didn't make last year. down with only a few minutes left, if ND gets that first down, maybe they march down the field and score like they did after Michigan went up. They score on that drive and it's probably all over.

against the EMU's and Minnesota's and Purdue's of the world, sure, work on the pro style offense.
vs. Nebraska, time to get on that horse: and by horse, I mean Denard
