Antonio Rios didn't deserve to be called up this time around, but my goodness he was fantastic last night. Rios>>>Gallito. He truly bossed the midfield last night. Easily best player on the pitch.

and yes, I understand that Piojo's thought-process may be that he should be playing these friendlies like he plans to play in next years Gold Cup/Copa America. and if that indeed is why he is approaching these matches like a little bitch, it certainly confirms that the man is a huge joke.

lucky for him is that we play in CONCACAF and he literally can't fail (even moreso after variance struck us last cycle and it isn't scheduled to happen again for another 500 years). so we are stuck with this clown until we fail yet again in Russia.

-Layun would not play LWB/LB anymore. He has too much talent to be wasted there. exact same case as Bale.
-Ponce is not good but there isn't a better LB to choose from
-Rios was not good today. He just can't handle the whole midfield to himself and partnering him up with someone good like Lucas Silva would unleash the beast that he is
-Jordan Silva only has a half-dozen or so league games in his career, but the kid has been in the Toluca u20's for a while and he has absolutely crushed it so far. Even Dr Garcia wants to see him called up.
-Chaka Rodrguez is deserving of a callup. When I watched him at Puebla last season, I was super impressed with him and for some reason, I thought he was from Argentina based on his nickname and appearance. Now that I know he's Mexican and have seen that he is still crushing at Jaguares, it's time to call this guy up.
-Pizarro, Herrera, Chuky Lozano are all deserving. Jurgen Damm probably isn't at the moment, but he clearly has talent so why not.
-Yasser Corona is a boss and should be playing for a top 5 team in Mexico.

How do I not get paid for content like this? Honestly, you don't see this kind of knowledge anywhere else. Your welcome.

Today's match was so painful to watch that I had to turn it off at halftime. just a big pile of AIDS from all of them.

my thoughts from what I saw:
-Talavera > Ochoa
-Luis Venegas might be the worst CB to ever wear a Mexico jersey. The guy couldn't even complete simple passes
-Hugo Ayala simply isn't good enough. Should never get another chance.
-Guemez, or ANY other Mexican in the world, just isn't good enough to play the lone DM role. Piojo needs to stop being a ****** and play with two of them.
-Marco Fabian is probably the most overrated Mexican player ever. He is sooooo ****ing bad. He isn't playing well at Cruz Azul, so how is he getting called up and starting for Mexico???
-Chuleta getting minutes over Cubo or Ponchito is laughable.


On the bright side, at least Vela is coming to save us next month. Can't wait!

Is the gold cup a relevant tournament?

I watched highlights recently of a gold cup final (the one where Mexico won 5-0 or something ) and the commentator said both usa and Mexico sent b teams

before the last Gold Cup, CONCACAF used to have it set up where the Gold Cup was being played every 2 years, with one being the important one where the winner gets to go to Confederations, and the other one being meaningless.

2007 winner heads to Confederations. A teams play Gold Cup.

2009 winner nothing. C teams play Gold Cup (this is the highlight you saw).

2011 winner heads to Confederations. A teams play Gold Cup.

2013 winner now gets 1/2 of a spot to Confederations. USA won this.

2015 winner gets other half. if USA wins this, they go to Confederations. if Mexico wins, there will be a 1 game playoff to decide who plays in 2017 Confederations Cup.



also, Mexico also has Copa America in the summer, but looks like we'll be sending a B team to that and our A team for the Gold Cup. luckily for us, our B team is still good enough to beat the weak group we landed in (host Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia).

as for this year's Gold Cup, its a virtual lock that we win.

Ochoa is out vs Paraguay and his replacement is Meliton Hernandez. what a joke this is. just an absolute slap in the face to Talavera, who is so clearly the best gk in Mexico. its almost as if Piojo doesn't want any more gk controversy.
