hmmm I'd say maybe 10k. new upper east stand was closed off. south end boisterious as usual.

Dominica clearly outmatmatched, but it's a team of part-timers with regular jobs.
(same as we were in '86). would be nice to qualify but not holding my breath

It looks like the tide might have finally turned for the Canada national team.

With the Friday roster announcement for a friendly against Ghana on Oct. 13, the Canadian Soccer Association unveiled three players that many fans might never have expected to see suiting up for the national team.

The first is Junior Hoilett, whose commitment to his birth nation after years of uncertainty was first announced by Canada Soccer earlier this week. The 25-year-old Queens Park Rangers man is looking to earn his first cap for Canada at any level.

Next is Fraser Aird, whose presence on the roster for Ghana was quietly confirmed by the CSA on Thursday. The 20-year-old Glasgow Rangers midfielder was born in Toronto but has made appearances for Scotland’s U-17 and U-19 squads. But after a slow-burn repatriation process, Aird will join the senior Canadian national team for the first time.

The third is Lucas Cavallini, who has experience with Canada’s youth and senior teams but hasn’t answered the call for the national team since their infamous 8-1 World Cup qualifying loss to Honduras in October 2012. In that time, the 22-year-old became one of the most promising goalscorers in the Uruguayan Primera Division – but also suggested in a local interview that he regretted becoming cap-tied to his birth country.

All three players are joining Les Rouges at a crucial time, with the semifinal round of World Cup qualifying set to begin on Nov. 13, in a match against Honduras at BC Place.

Hoilett and Aird aren’t the only newcomers to the setup – Montreal Impact defender Wandrille Lefevre is also with Canada for the first time. The 25-year-old was born in France but has lived in Canada since 2003 and became eligible for the national team earlier this year when he received his Canadian citizenship.

Also, 19-year-old Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Marco Bustos, who has plenty of experience at the youth level with Canada, is joining the senior team for the first time.

Canada I'm looking at you to turn around hoiletts career. I'm sure there's a good footballer in him he's just been low on confidence playing for a toxic club. great first touch and can play 1-2s around the box. work rate isn't the best but I look forward to seeing how he does.

2 more new players on the way?

Quote:
Former Philadelphia Union centerback Steven Vitoria and current Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield are set to pledge their international soccer allegiances to Canada, according to a report [...]

Vitoria, 28, was born in Toronto but played for Portugal at the Under-20 level. He was never capped by the senior squad, however, and is apparently ready to play for Canada. The 6-foot-5 defender is currently under contract with Benfica, but spent last season on loan with the Union.

The 27-year-old Arfield was born in Scotland, but is eligible to suit up for Canada because his father was born in Toronto. Arfield currently plays for English Championship side Burnley, and has previously represented Scotland's youth teams.

will take all the help we can get!
seems like two ~legit players who can help, and in positions of weakness.

imagine if we had guys signing up for the last 20 years or so ... no wait, don't.

so, once again, it comes down to needing a result in Honduras...

problem?

Spoiler:
or for something completely different, we could accomplish that for once, then fail to beat an El Salvador team playing for nothing

well, here we go again...

not a horrible lineup, kinda expected it to be more parky
(were rumours they were training with Edgar in the midfield, and no Arfield ugh)

still basically gonna be bunkering until we get scored on, not sure i like our chances
but then again, why would i? dying in Honduras is what we do

Spoiler:
ONE TIME!?!?! PLZ!!!

we should have beat El Salvador in the Gold Cup, we should have beat El Salvador away this qualifying round, i think it's theoretically possible for us to put a bunch of goals past them on Tuesday
(especially if they hate Honduras ... do they?)

then we just need Mexico to help out big and do a job as well
