No idea if he's good or not but I'm fairly happy, on my 30-second initial analysis at least.
Pretty much this

Yeah if nothing else this hire continues the trend of the front office at least seeming to possess a pulse.

LaFleur once shook Sean McVay's hand, so that's good.

Pro Football focus has David Bahktiari as the number 1 rated OT in the NFL. Corey Lindsey is the #6 rated center. Brian Bulaga is like the 23rd rated OT. Guards suck so that is one position Packers need to get better. Surprisingly to me at least, DL graded out pretty well. Dean Lowery graded better than I thought he would have. Kenny Clark had a good year of course. Mike Daniels injured in 2018, due to make $10,000,000 or so in 2019. Packers can save $8 million in 2019 cap space by cutting him. Hard decision, he had been a good player and a loyal Packer. I think I would let him walk if he wouldn’t take a salary reduction. LBs graded out mediocre on Pro Football Focus. Fackrell graded out the highest. Martinez was suprisingly high in pass coverage but against the run not that great. Nick Perry was just awful and injured (like every year) and Clay Matthews was mediocre. I don’t think Matthews or Perry will be Packers next year. At CB, I think it is fair to state that Kevin King is a big disappointment. Josh Jackson struggled mightely. Devon House was terrible when not injured. Quentin Rollins is a proven bust. Alexander is a work in progress. The Packers safeties LOL.

Skill positions, Rodgers #5 QB on PFF, Adams #13 IIRC, Valdez/Scantling and St Brown very mediocre. Ditto Jimmy Graham. Jones decent and Williams is good enough.

FWIW have a pretty crappy roster and the new coach will have a big job on his hands.

Fatmike, can you explain what "football tech" and a "game-management advisor" are?

I think Ron Rivera hired one recently. One of the Packer blogs had a good article blasting McCarthy and his idiotic game management decisions. I don’t know, seems like it wouldn’t be that hard to just have all key possibilities planned in advance.

We had 35.3m cap space. Up to 46m with Nick Perry being a post-June 1st cut.

Need 10m for the draft class.

Who knows how the signing are structured but:

Preston Smith: 4/52/16
Adrian Amos: 4/37
Za'Darius Smith: Not announced but seems to be roughly 16m/year.

EDIT: Just signed OL Billy Turner from Broncos.

We came into the day with 35.3m cap space, 38.6m after cutting Perry (Pre-June 1st cut).

Today's cap hits:

Preston Smith: 5.35m
Adrian Amos: 5.4m
Billy Turner: 3.9m

-$10m for draft class

Leaves us with ~13.5m minus whatever Za'Darius Smith's cap hit is.

Could get 11.75m from cutting Tramon (4.75m) and Bulaga (6.75m)

Current notable unsigned/tendered players: Bashaud Breeland, Geronimo Allison

They're never cutting Bulaga. I'd think about Crosby if I was the GM.

They're adding a ton of talent this offseason. Four veteran starters, plus they have the third most draft capital. They're losing almost nothing. The 2015 draft class rookie contracts coming off of everyone's books is a huge boon for the Packers.

Things will be pretty tight next offseason. Clark, Daniels and Martinez will be due. Clark will get a huge payday. Packers will probably be back to collecting comp picks.

Oops, forgot that Clark has the 5th year option for 2020. They're okay next for next offseason, I think.

Oh, just realized someone finally got around to updating the thread title

Also, GB shouldn't even consider cutting Crosby. Finding a good kicker is hard. Finding one that can kick in GB is even harder.

I like the Gary pick. I think the talk of him sucking last year is overblown. He ate a ton of blockers and got a solid amount of quarterback pressures, but his sack total was a little low in a 9 game sample. Whatever. Sounds like he should've gotten shoulder surgery but didn't want to miss the combine so now they're trying to wait until after the rookie year.

I don't really get why Darnell Savage wasn't rated higher before the draft. He ran a 4.36, loves to hit people and isn't an idiot. That sounds like an NFL safety to me. All these internet geniuses rated this Taylor Rapp guy ahead of him even after he ran a 4.8 40.

Vikings oline sucks, I'm more worried about the offense having to play the Vikings D and Broncos D in the next 2 weeks.

I never bet the packers since I’m a fan... but my bets for the packers to win over 9.5, make the playoffs, win the division, win the conference & win the super bowl are all looking good. Let’s not worry about the offense too much. Let’s assume Matt is a league average coach and not fat mike and will figure out the guy to succes with godgers is to throw the ball. Defense looks really solid too.

I know he didn't show his work, but why do you feel his assessment is off?
