Fire McCarthey has been the title of this thread since January 31st, 2013. It's been nearly 6 years, but we can FINALLY change it.

I'll always appreciate the superbowl but Mccarthy lost me when Seattle managed to run that fake FG in the NFC championship. who knows if the next guy is worse than mike but I'm more than ready to find out

so who do we get?

I feel like I should say something nice. I appreciated that the locker room was never a dumpster fire and that he rarely (if ever) threw guys under the bus.

It seems to me that there is a strong negative correlation between how impressive a new coach's NFL resume is to a person like me and how good he is at his new job

So hopefully we get the defensive backs coach for the Falcons or something

The fact that it has been spelled wrong for 6 years is somehow just about perfect

Has it really been that long? Can't have been calling for his head that long. My goodness.

I'm weirdly excited for this meaningless game. Kinda want Rodgers to hang like 500 yards on the Falcons just to punctuate how much Fat Mike was holding the Packers back.

Hypothetical:

Would you trade a miracle Super Bowl run/victory in the wake of MM's firing for Murphy immediately hiring Philbin long-term?

I was definitely hoping they'd lose to ATL and go Full Tank, but now I'm worried they may have some "momentum" while all of the 6-seeds above them are set to crumble.

But I think I'd honestly just quit watching football if Rodgers got another ring after ripping off 8 straight wins immediately after MM got canned. The past and future wouldn't matter and I'd live out my days with that image as my eternal present.

I'd absolutely be on board with hiring Philbin if they run the table and win the Super Bowl. What I'm worried about is if they run the table and then don't make the playoffs. I think they'd probably hire Philbin if they win the four games he coaches.

Packers are 300-1 to win the SB at Westgate. That seems like free money.

Now I feel like a fish for getting them at 80-1 and 180-1.

Eliminated in week 15, huh. Been a while since the last weeks of the season have been meaningless. Hope for a full on tank now

This.

Looks like a multi year roster upgrade I should needed. I have little confidence in the current Packer front office.

Cutting Graham, Perry, Daniels, Bulaga, and Tramon Williams will clear $33 million in cap space for 2019 according to overthecap.com. That would give the Packers around $78 million in cap space for 2019. Cobb and Matthews are not under contract for 2019. Cutting Daniels might to not be supported by fans but the 2019 draft is supposed to have a lot of blue chip DLs and the Packers have two first round picks. A good GM could use that cap space to get part way with a roster upgrade. I am not up for resigning Matthews or Cobb. We'll see how the GM does. Jimmy Graham was a bad signing.

On coaching I want the Packers to hire Vic Fangio the Bears DC. Why ? First of all his record as a DC is excellent and secondly the ****ing Bears lose a valuable asset. I would welcome a Packers D that could get stops at crunch time, get turnovers, and keep them in games when the offense struggles.
