Declining a penalty that puts your opponent out of field goal position is probably the worst decision I've seen our dumb fat **** of a coach make, and that's saying a lot. They got away with it, but holy **** that was bad.

It was a very costly win, to say the least.

dope.

McCarthy is coaching well during the games this year, never thought I'd say it

was that Elliot first down called correctly? It seemed like he brought the ball back on purpose. doesn't that surrender the forward progress

yeah, the officials and announcers acted like Elliot just had to break the plane of the first down marker like it was the goal line. Made no sense.

I asked a group of friends about that and they explained what forward progress was to me like I was a woman. When I made the analogy of a runner going past the first down line then reversing field and going back over the line before being tackled I heard silence. No answers yet.

He went for 2 when he shouldn't have (see the stupid coaches thread) and he called a run up the gut with 1 TO, down 3 on the 30 a few plays after showing the defense he was dumb enough to run - which lead to us wasting our last TO after a gain of maybe 1.

McCarthy's playcalling has seemed generally good this season. I suspect Godgers is running the offense. Serious question, can he run the defense too? Capers is absolute AIDS, how in the world is he still employed? I was legit furious when I heard he was the longest-tenured DC in the league. This combines two things: he is too incompetent to be considered as a head coach and FAT MIKE and the upper management of the Packers are perfectly content with gross incompetence.

If you take the ball out of the end zone on the kickoff, not only are you risking both an injury and a turnover, but you are statistically unlikely to advance the ball as far as you would have if you had just taken a knee. (By the way, this applies to picks in the end zone, too; the median INT return is just 15 yards). Only one team this season—Green Bay—has not bothered to attempt a kickoff return. I can’t believe a Mike McCarthy outfit is ahead of the curve on tailoring return strategies to the data, but there you have it. If there’s a special teams coach out there who has not yet realized the folly of attempting an end zone return and saved his best return man exclusively for punts, they should be managing a KFC.
Has FAT MIKE checked the analytics? Is Fat Mike actually good this year? This is astounding!

Yes, yes, McCarthy sucks but can we talk about how amazing it is that this team is 4-1 right now given the injuries. Rodgers should be dead right now given the o-line situation but is leading the league in TDs.

And how has no one mention Aaron Jones? I got so used to Fat Eddie being good for 2 yards at best and Starks running for anywhere between -1 to no gain. Beside Ty against Chicago last year, the last time I time I can remembering a Packer's RB break open for a big gain was during the Ahman Green or early Ryan Grant days.

Jones has looked really good. I just hope that doesn't mean mike forgets he has the GOAT and starts running 25 times a game.

Best case scenario:

Even though I was excited by the 4-1 start prior to the Rodgers injury, it felt like another loss in in the divisional round or NFC Championship game was imminent. King is the only competent CB we have and Martinez seems to be the only player who knows how to tackle in the open field. That defense was doomed if we made the playoffs. Hopefully, we lose out and the organization finally moves on from McCarthy or, dear god, at least Capers.

My biggest fear:
Hundley is a decent QB who wins a few games and the Packers finish 9-7 or a good looking 8-8. The general public continues to hail McCarthy as an offensive genius and the organizations sticks with the coaching staff believing everything was fine until Rodgers went down.

The good news is the Browns and the Bears are the only bad teams we play from here on out.

Packers could lose out and if Rodgers was out for the season FAT MIKE wouldn't lose his job. Packers organization is a responsibility-free zone.

You're probably right. We're probably stuck with him until TT retires. But I think Capers is the bigger problem. Hopefully a losing season changes the perception about the coaching staff. Even at the beginning of this game, the announcers were talking about how good a coordinator Dom is.

The Packers should definitely sign Kaepernick. Chances of Kaepernick being signed by the packers: 0.00%

So, realistically, even assuming GB gets Godgers back at like week 15 or something, is there any chance GB goes .500 over the next 8 weeks?

Saints
Bye
Lions
@Bears
Ravens
@Steelers
Buccs
@Browns

The only wins I see are against the Browns and maybe against the Bears? And obv, if Godgers isn't back by the gauntlet of @Panthers, Vikings, @Lions, GB has 0% chance to make the playoffs.

So, the best hope is GB loses out and we get coaches fired.
