Yup, exactly. The September 2017 contribution of Justin Upton is utterly irrelevant to this franchise. This would have been a "good" move if we got $3 and our concession stands stocked with some kind of fermented chicken drink.

If Upton opts out, but it's absolutely crazy to do so. All he needs is a minor slump at the end of the season and he will not be able to sign a similar deal. I don't care that much about Upton, I care about what we get in return.

Well, JV is gone too, but at least we got Perez for him. That guy definitely has an upside and our whale at the helm could have actually made a good deal there.

It is surprising that Ausmus is still the manager though. It would have been the perfect moment to get rid of him. Let's see if he still puts Castellanos at 3rd.

The interesting detail on the JV trade his upcoming adjustment with the Astros. If their analytics are as good as advertised, then his ERA should go down.

Eh, it's hard to say but I'm not sure this is true. Dude has been on fire for the past year. From mlbtr:

"Dating back to July 1 of last year, Upton has raked at a .273/.351/.551 pace with 51 homers in 831 plate appearances. That line includes an even more magnificent .282/.368/.578 slash over the past calendar year. Over his past 631 plate appearances, Upton has clubbed 41 home runs."

I don't think one slump at the end of this season would change anything at this point one way or the other.

When I bought OOTP 18 this year I took over the tigers (I usually just play custom creates leagues)

I did what Avila is doing now. Traded verlander. Zimm. Upton. Jd. Kinsler.

Basically everyone but Cabrera.

It's time to lie this up and look to 3-4 years down the road.

Well... it was fun while it lasted. Mr I spent bigly to build a championship team, and 2012-15 were the prime years to make it happen, but **** happens in the postseason.
