A close game is always good times, but I'll confess watching the Bears just melt down at the end of the first half was really satisfying.... felt good to be on the right end of the beatdown for once.

Lions were looking good all night and Cutler was a trainwreck. Hope he's okay though... when he took that tackle from Suh I thought his leg was going to snap off.

If there's one thing I noticed in this game (and others this year) it's that the Lions' number of bull**** "lack of discipline" type penalties are way, way down from last year, and it makes a huge difference imo. Not going to say they're going all the way or anything, but it feels DAMN good to watch them play football, instead of tuning in to watch them beat themselves with penalties and sloppiness before the other team even does anything.

Actually feeling really good about our chances next week.

Our defense truly looks competitive. GB still has a lot of struggles with pass protection, if our DL turns in another performance like this week then Rodgers might have trouble completing a lot of passes. Our DB's are good enough this year to actually make plays, and their WR depth isn't what it was in past years.

Nothing about going to GB makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

I went out to the bar to watch the game and I had the same. About a 50/50 split. I wish I could quit the Lions I really do, being in Grand Rapids it's about halfway between the two cities so I might be able to justify it. Rooting for other teams just doesn't feel close to the same. I made it through all the terribad years, I doubt in my lifetime they'll ever have a 10 year stretch like that even if they never win a Super Bowl, so I might as well stick it out.

west state of the state seems like all sparties and a mix of bears fans.. pretty annoying. I guess not as bad as the UP where it's Packers all the time

Nope. I'm originally from Grand Rapids myself, and despite moving to New York at the height of Patroits fever, then moving to Korea, then to Canada, I still can't help but tune in for some good old Lions football.

Also, for additional entertainment value, I highly recommend everyone take a look at the Bears thread and read everyone there trying to convince themselves that losing was no big deal.

The fact is, this years division won't be measured by wins against the bears, regardless of what they'll say. It will be against GB. Looking at it objectively, most people would rate the NFC North 1.GB 2.DET until we prove otherwise.

Considering we have to go to their place. This game is bigger than most people think. With GB at 1-2, a loss at home to us would be huge to put us out for a chance at a real run of W's if you check out the schedule.

So let's start talking about the future. GB. I like our chances with Suh and Fairley up against a Bulaga-less front line. I expect rodgers to be under pressure all day. We have to be careful not to over commit because rodgers loves to run on us, so a LB or two need to keep their eyes open and ends can't overrun, especially in any man.

I expect our offense to get their first big test on establishing a run game as green bay is 8th in the league. However, they are also 28th in the league with opp pass defense. So if we can keep reggie moving I think we'll be fine. If he gets plugged up or plays bad, watch out. Either way should be an interesting little battle.

Winning in GB would be pure gravy. When they were looking at the schedule at the beginning of the season, you can be sure the Lions were thinking "well, we won't win that one." Every conceivable environmental factor is stacked against the Lions on this one, the only upside is that the Lions have looked amazing this year (by Lions standards) and the Packers have looked pretty terrible (by Green Bay standards).

Winning this game would probably be the biggest upset of the year for the division, at least psychologically.

Every now and again you get a chance to make a statement and definitively turn the tide.

This is our shot.

4-1 with a 3-0 record in the division, road win vs. GB, and knocking them to 1-3 changes the landscape so much.

If we go to 3-2, Chicago is 4-1 or 3-2, and GB is 2-2, it's just the status quo all over again.

Feels kind of like a freeroll to me... I mean, basically everyone is expecting we'll lose this game. If we do, it's not really a big deal.

But if we win... OMGWTFBBQ. Lions likely two games ahead in the division and 3-0 vs. division opponents while snapping a 21 game losing streak in Wisconsin? Yes plz.

Time to stop treating **** like this as a freeroll.

This is our first playoff game this year. 4-1 followed by a trip to WEEDEN where we should be 3-4 point favorites, gives us a legit shot at shipping the division, and 5-1 even gets us into the bye discussion with NO and SEA.

Lose tomorrow, and it's status quo with the Lions doing what the Lions do, and our ceiling is fighting for the wild card spot.

If you only had one shot, or one opportunity...

I don't see how being tied for first in a tight division after week 5 makes it so our ceiling is a wild card spot.

"Win at home, split on the road" is the common wisdom. I mean, if you make a list of "top 3 games Lions will probably lose in 2013" this game definitely makes the list.... I mean, you may as well be claiming that the Lions have to go 15-1, or they suck.

I mean, if you want to hang your hopes for the season on one away game on week 5 feel free, but that doesn't really reflect reality.
