I'd think that hitting on 50% of these risky pics is probaby worth it? So we gotta hope Collins works out, and hopefully Smith too. But yeah I think we all know we're a bottom 5 team at drafting. Gotta be in and around that?

It's results oriented, of course... but using 2nd rounders on flyers I think is what unsettles me in the end. If this is supposed to be a team competing now while Romo is still there, then taking flyers that high is not helpful.

Of course if Gregory was awesome/clean, and Smith comes back as an all-pro next year, I wouldn't say this at all. Just right now it feels very unsettled and not helpful on the side of the ball that needs the most help.

What he does already represent is a guy for NOW on 4th and 1. Man imagine 4th and 1 with Dez wide, and Morris/Zeke in the backfield. That ball can go anywhere. Tough to stop.

At this point I genuinely don't understand why Romo doesn't retire. I don't even mean that meanly. I mean it from the perspective of a person with chronic pain who thinks the man deserves some quality of life after football. I don't see how he can give anymore.

Also consider me in the camp of trading some people away, and playing for next year. They put all their eggs in the win now basket, and this is what they're gonna get.

All that being said, Dak + Zeke are going to give run d's fits. That's gonna be popcorn worthy.

The crazy part is we may or may not be entering another super dark period for the team. I wanna be optimistic about Dak, but obviously this can't be heaped on him. This could be another brutal search for a QB, and people will realize (mostly other fanbases) how great Tony was. I hope it's not done for him, but it's getting real close to looking like it.

Can you even play Dak in game 4 now? I don't think you can.

They're saying Romo may even try to play through it, I give him credit but I can't imagine that going well. For starters, he'd probably be mostly a statue and be hitting the deck anytime a rusher gets within 3 feet of him, so how effective would he be?

On a side note, this is going to make preseason games even more of a joke. You're gonna start seeing teams not play their starting QBs for a single down in any of the four games now.

I dunno, he's far from the first guy to get hurt in the preseason at QB. I think the trend has been moving this way for a while now with vets (AP etc...). I think it's just going to continue as it has. But a 36 year old with multiple back injuries getting yet another isn't that big a story. And only Jerry can be surprised. None of us are.

I don't see him playing through it. And I guess how Dak performs will have more to say about that then anything.
