So Romo's apparently getting a plate put in to protect the collarbone, 6-8 weeks recovery. I guess this is a good thing?

He's already surrounded by extra help.

He's basically a lost cause at this point IMO.

Were talking about weed here, shouldn't be illegal anyways, but I wouldn't call him a lost cause just yet

Failed test at combine.

Got drafted. Said he changed. Got special stuff from Cowboys.

Failed test during season. Fined 2 checks.

Fined test during season. Fined 4 checks.

Fined test during season. Suspended.

He didn't wake up when he lost millions of dollars falling in the draft. Didn't wake up when he got caught in the NFL. Didn't wake up again when getting caught in the NFL again.

I see literally no reason to believe he's going to stop. He either can't live without it or just doesn't care.

I genuinely don't care that it's weed. It can be Dr. Pepper for all I care.

To be fair this isn't Quincy carter sniffing lines on a floor at a strippers house dude just finished his rook campaign needed some medical Mary Jane to recover

Until he can do more than be a preseason superstar I really don't care. Disappointing just like his entire 2015 season.

I don't see why this matters at all.

It's against the rules and he can't stop. It isn't going to not be against the rules anytime in the next 6 months.

I freaking hate the stance that people who are pro-marijuana take in situations like this. I don't give a **** if it should be legal or if it's no big deal. It's against the rules right now. So other than the fact that he's not going to die on it or something, it makes virtually no difference to me.

He's just not smart enough to pass his dt which is really disturbing

Or he uses wayyyyyyyyyyyy more than other people do making it harder to pass.

Either way, don't care. Once he got caught the second time and didn't stop, it seems unlikely we ever get anything out of him.

Let's just say he's probably 75% to bust now. But there's still a good 25% he can save himself. There are some HOF players who did just that.

This is exactly what people would have done to justify Josh Gordon btw...

On to brighter things, this makes it spicy:

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, "all signs" point to the Browns drafting a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick.
Speaking at the Combine on Wednesday, new coach Hue Jackson stopped short of guaranteeing the Browns would take a quarterback at No. 2, but he did guarantee the Browns would draft a quarterback this year. And to get a starter in the NFL, it requires a first-round pick far more often than not. The Plain Dealer expects the Browns to ultimately decide between California's Jared Goff and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz at No. 2 overall.

So the Chargers could decide everything for us. They REALLY need D-line help, and Bosa and Buckner should both be there. There's an interesting bluff situation here because with Gregory going full ******, now we ALSO need D-line help. So imho if the Cowboys want to go QB, it's in their best interest to really look hard at Bosa/Buckner, and make the Chargers feel like they can't trade down or risk losing their guy.

I feel like we could go QB or Corner here, and I guess DE is in the cards too.

Even if I accept the premise of him only not getting succeeding 25% because of his obvious issues, he still has to...actually become a good football player too.

I don't know that much about Myles Jack (the new #4 hype) as opposed to Bosa who I know more about. But I do know that even with the whole Hardy/Gregory thing, I'd take Wentz or Goff at #4 if they were there over Mack/Bosa. That Wentz kid is a beast, what a combine for him. He's exactly the kind of guy that would flourish in a 2-3 year waiting period to replace Romo when he retires. 2 years holding the pad and getting spot work I think he turns into the next Big Ben.

Apparently San Diego is shopping their pick hard because they could use everything, and there's almost no consensus on the next 4 non-QB picks. So they could trade down and still get a difference maker for them.

I don't think we ever get this good a chance again at Romo's replacement. I think they'll have a hard time keeping Jerry from imposing his will this time.

Yah I'm thinking Stephen is on board if Wentz falls but I don't like anybody else at 4 so I'd love to trade down if he's gone

Randy Gregory's issues are the reason he was still on the board at pick #60. Things like like were bound to happen, everybody knew it and priced in already. There are major warts on every player drafted that deep, whether positional value, upside concerns, OTF problems whatever. This is a guy very high most categories for a prospect - key position, high upside and so on, but with a couple atrocious negatives with reliability. Not sweating it.

If anything it's a good reminder that you need more than just a promising young talent at the RDE position before checking it off the list. They weren't comfortably set there pre suspension and they're certainly not now.
