Man I didnt get to see the game, listened to a bit on the radio. Wow. Radio made it sound like a totally different Dak?

More like standard Dak throwing, except with letting him run a ton and doing it well. Everything they tried worked against JAX. Also got Beasley working, seems like he converted 85% of the third downs by himself. It didn’t look like they got good overnight on offense or anything, more just played an opponent who had a miserable day.

Zeke beasted of course and the defense is looking pretty good. A 100 yard receiver finally (Beasley w 101).

Big win but still the pass game is MIA. Gallup had a little flair and can get open and you see potential. Just need more out of WR and TE

47 seconds/1 timeout left and they manage to get two plays off. ****ing pathetic. Fire Garrett now.

The Amari Cooper trade talk might make some sense, but I imagine Oakland wants a 1. A 2nd + change isn’t out of the question for his value right now. Would rather draft one but at his age it’s more a cap issue

Reminded me of the GB playoff game a couple of years ago. Get into the outer edge of FG range and then say "k, we're good". Admittedly like 75% of coaches do the same. And some of the blame lies with Dak who I just don't think has the tools for executing in that situation right now (and possibly ever).

There is no way in hell that Amari does much other that a bit of jump ball ability for us. I would never trade our first for him. This WR class has a lot of gems. They'll be a great one in the second round.

**** that is such a Jerry thing to do.

Whelp. I guess you could argue there won't be an Amari Cooper available to them around where they'd pick next year. Not sure what else there is to say. Hope it doesn't turn into Roy Williams 2.0.

Awful. Won't be able to meaningfully contribute for a couple of weeks if at all in a season where we're not going anywhere (other than a shot at some 8-8ish division championship and a first round exit), and the pick could be much better spent.

lol the rumor that the next highest offer out there was a 3rd.

There’s no way that best offer rumor is true, unless it came with a player or more picks. A 1 is high but a 3rd for Cooper?

Would have liked to keep the 1 but this isn’t the most unreasonable move they’ve made. Cooper probably has as good or better odds of being a legitimate #1 WR than a drafted WR, even one they might be inclined to trade up for. He’s 24 and optioned through next year so that’s not an issue.

Also there’s nothing interesting at all as far as FA WRs...

It is a very Jerry move though. They really can’t handle life without a stud receiver very long. Mega concerns with Cooper but let’s see what they can get out of him. Pick was sexier especially in a down year though.

Haven’t looked but people probably hate this, I think I’m just in the dislike camp. The 2015 WR class though

There’s a lot going on here, notably with the veterans Hurns, TWill and Thompson all totally busting and having 1TD and less than 300 yards combined. None will be Cowboys next year. Beasley is a free agent (and one they can’t protect with a tag), so he could easily walk. Dez is still unemployed and Butler didn’t help. A rookie who showed well is on IR. Everything broke.

The 2019 FA receiver market is awful, and nobody’s handing over an Antonio Brown or Hopkins for a 1st, or really anybody who put up 1k yards last season outside of Fitzgerald.

The draft is the draft. Nice way to go but you might not see a guy you want or be able to get him. They bust a lot, and even the few who emerge as a real 1WR can take a while to get there. Right now Dallas is dead in the water without a credible threat. IMO they’re going to have to figure out how to win a WR trade and make it work because the WR market absolutely sucks. And expect them to go after another one in the draft too.

As far as Cooper he has several things people are right to be concerned about but there’s a lot to like too. His floor is low but his ceiling is way high. I’d have loved a 2nd rd for him but let’s just see how he works out. If he busts because they just can’t evaluate receivers then I’m not sure there is a winning strategy. I like him enough to be glad he’s not elsewhere in the division.

You're talking a lot about WR's while dancing around the real issue...

Not dancing around anything. I’m not sure whether you’re referring to Dak or Jerry or Garrett or Linehan or something else, but this WR group is definitely a real issue on it’s own. I know there’s been a casual fan.jpg Twitter narrative that WRs are free all over the field every play but that’s just not true.

Not that there aren’t several things with Dak and the rest to talk about, there are, but this WR group is a massive weakness and one theyre actually in position to at least try to something about. Dak isn’t getting replaced anytime soon and anybody who was dreaming of tanking to do so is lost, no team would do that. He needs to play better, Tyron needs to play better, CWilliams needs to play better, and they need the new WR and TE starters to get in sync ASAP and perform.

Paul Alexander gone, hard to argue against that decision. Marc Colombo taking over, Hudson Houck back in some kind of advisory role.

Golden Tate for a 3rd. Yeah we did awesome.

Golden Tate’s a fine player but he’s 30 and not a QB. The trend for WR prime dropoff trend and timing is clear and NFL teams understand that, even the Redskins kinda get it now. Hence Tate gets traded for what looks to be a mid-low 3rd. Besides that he’s a guy who caught 80% from the slot and has an expiring deal - don’t the Cowboys have that guy already? I guess you could enjoy what was going to be the Ryan Switzer idea for half a season, but it’s not like the guy would be a 1k WR outside of a 600-pass offense.

Demaryius for a 4th also, but again, age matters. Desean and Pierre Thomas could probably have been had for the same or less too.

It’s not an either/or situation anyway, they could have easily picked up one of those guys after acquiring Amari if they wanted but unlike the Eagles it makes no sense for the Cowboys situation. They need guys that offer some kind of possibility long term, right now Amari and Gallup are the only 2 you can pencil in to be back next season.

This is an abomination. But the coach is a yes man and the QB makes commercials - that’s all that matters.

They seem about what they were expected to be. Hopefully they can pull it together and finish strong but they’re definitely answering questions about the future of this team. Right now Dak looks more like a guy who ought to play on his rookie deal in 2019, the Linehan experiment should probably be over, and this finally might be it for Garrett. We should have an idea if they have a credible WR1 and WR2 by season end. TE is a ghost so far. Have to find out what the status is with Fredbeard, although Joe Looney has been a bargain and is under contract for next year.

OTOH DLaw has held up and earned a deal, Byron Jones also, we know the linebackers and secondary aren’t in bad shape. Paul Alexander rightfully gone already. The draft class is off to a decent enough start - LVE especially, Collins and Gallup need work but look like they could both turn into decent players and are starting.

Either way, I like their outlook better than last year. I thought they were going to keep on with Dez, Scandrick and watch the wheels fall off on Witten. They didn’t overpay for Hitchens, they replaced J Cooper, Chaz Green. They surprisingly cut Dan Bailey and have random dude kicking 90%. They’ve avoided shelling out for older players...

I wish QB wasn’t on the concern list because the rest look like reasonably addressable things for an off-season, and even then I don’t see Dak as a lost cause. And if he were that wouldn’t be a 2019 conversation in all likelihood.

Have a bunch of tough games so let’s see how they play through them. It’s a new era and they weren’t just going to unload all their vets and immediately start dunking on fools. So I’m not really stressing.

That 2nd half was utter trash by our offense. Couldn't get one drive going until the game was out of reach.
